Lisa Roma ~ Electrik Goddess Club Orquestra (EGCO)

About Me

Lisa Roma is a genuinely unique singer-songwriter and self-styled guitarist. Her voice is a blend of earthy sensuality and ethereal grace, and her songs are divinely inspired. Lisa combines catchy melodies, pensive poetic lyrics and unusual jazz chords with lullabye acoustic rhythms or freestyle fingerpicking on her steel string Martin or Taylor guitars. Her songs are soulful, intimate, honest and authentic. She weaves jazz sensibilities with the subtle undertones of Celtic, Native American and Mother Earth heartbeat rhythms.Lisa Roma created Electrik Goddess Club Orquestra (EGCO) around 2004 as a concept band combining the diversified musical talents of local artist friends. Lisa joined the Poetic Notion Chorus (PNC) in December 2006, which began an ongoing musical collaboration with its founding director Rob Darnell. Their musical kinship inspired them to collaborate creatively on poetry and song projects, recordings, and to join forces on a musical theatre project, as well as share musical personnel. In addition, they have formed The Half Moon Theatre Company. www.myspace.com/thehalfmoontheatrecompanyLisa Roma has been writing poetry, composing music and writing songs since her teens, and has been performing in local venues around Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, upstate New York, and Philadelphia over the past 10+ years. Lisa is currently working on combining her original songs, and musical collaborations with Rob, for their upcoming CDs.The songs on this myspace are all completely original Lisa Roma compositions both (lyrics and music). Some of the recordings you hear may sound more finished than others, because they are. We hope you enjoy them and forgive us any imperfections. We will continue to share our progress with you, and keep you updated about performances, and CDs when they are available for sale. The latest recording of "Is It Really Love" that you hear here was recorded at Lofish Studios in Manhattan, and features Lisa Roma on vocals and acoustic guitar, Rob Darnell on piano, Mike Czekaj on drums, and Jesse Martin on bass. Actually, the finished version of this song will feature the harmonies of the Poetic Notion Chorus (myspace.com/poeticnotionchorus). Cosmic Bodies and (Ode to the) SpaceChildren were recorded by/with Rob Darnell on piano keyboard, Lisa Roma on guitar, and all vocals, including harmonies."My Oysters" features Lisa's vocals, jazz composer/pianist Jason Teborek ..board, Peter Pasco on layered guitar tracks, above Lisa's original acoustic rhythm, and Bob's percussion. Sounds Like: "Lisa Roma's voice is so pure and beautiful - you can't help but to sit back, close your eyes and get carried away. " ~ Eliane, singer-songwriter, guitarist, composer. myspace.com/elianeperforms //"I heard Lisa sing People's Parties and Woodstock at a jam session. Not only was her voice luscious, but she had the exceptional musicianship necessary to do those songs well." ~ David Lahm, jazz pianist, composer, arranger (son of Dorothy Field, Broadway lyricist/composer). Check out David Lahm's CDs, Jazz takes on Joni Mitchell and More Jazz Takes on Joni Mitchell. //"I met Lisa Roma when she first auditioned for my singing group, the Poetic Notion Chorus. Her warm, lyrical, sultry, soaring voice blew me away and I begged her to be in a show I was directing a week later, a show of Laura Nyro's music. She sang a solo of "Emmie" in the show and sang with the chorus adding deeper dimension to the performance. Her upcoming CD of original songs showcases a rare and original vocalist and songwriter of the highest caliber. I am quite pleased to know that I will be working with her on future musical projects." ~ Rob Darnell, composer, pianist, vocalist, director of Poetic Notion Chorus. poeticnotionchorus.com , myspace.com/poeticnotionchorus //"Lisa Roma presentations have an underlying hint of immediacy.
