About Me

Originally from Portland, Oregon, Jason Teborek began taking piano lessons at the age of six. By the time he turned fourteen, he had won a national music composition contest sponsored by Yamaha, and was twice flown to Japan to perform his composition; first, for the president of Yamaha at an international music festival, and then at a UNICEF benefit concert at NHK Hall. After high school, where he received numerous soloist awards at jazz festivals, Teborek continued his studies at the University of Oregon on both music and academic scholarships. After graduating from the University of Oregon with honors and two BA degrees in music and Japanese, Teborek moved to the New York City area to launch his musical career in 1998. Since then, he has been in high demand as an accomplished and versatile pianist, having worked with several jazz greats including John Benitez, Ralph Bowen, Don Braden, Cecil Brooks III, Eddie Daniels, Peter Erskine, Bill Goodwin, Antonio Hart, Jimmy Heath, Bill Mobley, Ed Schuller, Jim Snidero, Dave Stryker, Roseanna Vitro, and Eliot Zigmund. Jason Teborek has also been actively involved in jazz education. In addition to teaching privately, Teborek has been an adjunct faculty member at New Jersey City University since 2001. Teborek has also been involved with the New Jersey Performing Arts Center's Jazz for Teens Program since 2003.
