About Me

JEROME J AKA [Rome-Da-Human-Metronome]. I'm a guy who believes in the golden rule. I love music. Recently I've graduated from Juilliard with a MM degree in Jazz Studies. I have been blessed to meet and get to know so many great people, some of whom I can call a Friend (for real). Sounds and Video will be coming soon. Peace...BiographyJerome Jennings is a native of Cleveland Ohio. He grew up in a family deeply immersed in music, thus developing an appetite for music at an early age. Jerome’s father owned a vast collection of records ranging from Miles Davis, The Temptations, Patrice Rushen, Grover Washington Jr., Mulgrew Miller, John McLaughlin, Steely Dan, Carlos Santana, Chick Corea, to Jimi Hendrix Band of Gypsies, etc... and Jerome gained a serious appreciation for the music played around the house. At the age of ten Jerome signed up for 4th grade band to play the drums and has never looked back. During this time Jerome was introduced to orchestral and symphonic music. Throughout grammar school Jerome played in numerous musical groups and achieved dozens of musical awards. This led to a full musical scholarship to The Ohio State University. While living in Columbus, Ohio Jerome worked for two years with trumpeter Pharez Whitted. Jerome eventually hooked up with legendary trombonist Slide Hampton, which included a performance at the 2000 Indy Fest, held in Indianapolis, Indiana. He would later transfer to Rutgers University in New Jersey. In fall 2002 Jerome was accepted to Rutgers University and completed his B.M. in music in spring 2004. While living on the East Coast Jerome was asked to participate in the first annual Carnegie Hall Workshop for Jazz Ensembles, resulting in a performance at Carnegie Hall. In the summer of 2003 Jerome was invited to participate in the Ravinia Festival Steans Institute for Young Artists. After graduating from Rutgers University he was invited to audition at The Juilliard School of the Performing Arts in Manhattan, New York by Jazz Studies Director Victor Goines. Jerome achieved his Masters Degree in Music from The Juilliard School in 2007. While living in the Tri-State area Jerome has been blessed to have many musicians who have helped and encouraged him along the way. Bill Ransom, Ralph Peterson Jr., Tony Reedus, Victor Lewis, Kenny Davis, Lewis Nash have been among those who encourage, help and mold Jerome’s conceptual approach to the drums. Jerome has also performed and toured all over the USA and internationally. He has performed in Switzerland at the Montreaux Jazz Fest 2000. He has also toured Toronto and Japan the summer of 2005 with Rolling Stones tenor man Tim Reis and his The Rolling Stones Project. In the fall of 2005 Jerome toured Moscow with legendary trumpeter and former Jazz Messenger Valery Ponomarev While on tour the group had the opportunity to perform at the world renown Tschaykovskiy Hall. In the beginning of 2006 Jerome had the honor of touring Japan with legendary pianist Hank Jones along with bassist David Finck. In the summer of 2007 Jerome was honored to perform two gigs with tenor legend Sonny Rollins at the New Mexico Jazz Fest. Jerome Jennings has performed with Sonny Rollins, Ray Charles, Charles Fambrough, Ronnie Mathews, Derrick Gardner, Marlon Jordan, Rufus Reid, Pharez Whitted, Leo Johnson, Brad Leali, David Baker, Valery Ponomarev, Kimati Dinizulu, The Count Basie Orchestra, The Mingus Big Band and many more.
