TOO MANY SAXOPHONISTS, NOT ENOUGH ISLAND...

About Me

ModMySpace Profile CustomizerWhy do I call my jazz sextet "Technical Blak"? Well, I think it sounds cool. That's it. And the philosophy of the music we create is just that, make something that sounds cool. Something that grooves. Something that swings. The music is demanding, yes, but I'll leave that intellectual theorizing to (as Benicio Del Toro's character in "Swimming With Sharks" might say) "the Wall-Street wimps". We want people to enjoy it, nothing more, nothing less. The individual credits of the people in the band are impressive, the resumes long (short list: Beyonce, Clark Terry, Wynton Marsalis, Junior Mance, Snoop Dogg, George Coleman, Paquito D'Rivera, Hank Jones, and that's the SHORT list). But that wouldn't mean anything if the melodies weren't catchy. The rhythms in the pocket. So just listen, and if you like, download and drop me a line...and make sure to stop back for upcoming shows.........................OTHER PROJECTS: Make sure to visit the BLACK DIAMOND ORCHESTRA here on MySpace (in my friends). I'm the musical director/arranger for this group, which is dedicated to the jazz of the 1920's. The orchestra includes some of the finest jazz musicians here in NYC including saxophonists Alex Harding and Bill Easley, trombonist Roland Barber, and pianist Lafayette Harris. I'm proud to be involved with it.You can also listen to more tracks by the band here...Joseph Perez and Technical Blak musicand read our press kit here...
