JazZMode Radio is a UK based jazz music online radio station, whose aim is to promote UK and international jazz music and musicians. We use jazz influence as a global music, to promote awareness and self-expression.
JazZMode Radio was established to enrich the artistic substance and perpetuate the democratic spirit of Jazz music. In order to accomplish this, we: invite and present world class jazz musicians, specials groups, visiting artists and soloists to talk to us about what they do and how they do it. This we hope will add to the development of listeners of all ages who wish to appreciate and understand the art of jazz.

A little history on Jazz music, its origins is attributed to the turn of the 20th century New Orleans, although this unique artistic medium occurred almost simultaneously in other North American areas like Saint Louis, Kansas City and Chicago. Traits carried from West African black folk music developed in the Americas, joined with European popular and light classical music of the late 18th and 19th centuries, became the syncopated rhythms of Ragtime and minor chord voicing’s characteristic of the Blues.
Music and all Art is an essential part of the "human experience." A basic understanding and appreciation of Music can only serve to broaden ones character and deepen the connection with those around us. Today, Jazz music is played, studied and taught at private and public institutions around the globe. However, as lower budgets force public schools to cut back, private lessons will not only supplement the school, but may eventually replace it in many areas. This is especially true for Jazz education.
For quite awhile, Jazz has been getting less and less attention on the radio, in some cases Jazz radio stations and clubs around the globe are closing down at an alarming rate. Jazz music has ceased to be mainstream. Ironically, Jazz has influenced R&B, Hip Hop, and even Rock to a certain extent. There are many reasons why American's original art is fading away from the mainstream, but we can do some thing about it. Jazz is dying! The same was said about classical music in the UK 11years ago, until the launch of Classic FM Radio, followed by Classic FM TVa few years later; this saw the rapid and continuous increase in the sales of classical music and concerts. I believe that the same goal could be achieved with Jazz. This is Jazz Alive maim objective.
Our goal: A terrestrial television station that plays Jazz music videos, documentaries on past and present Jazz Greats, Jazz concerts and so on; where the younger generation can visually see Jazz and learn to appreciate this great art form. This we hope will create a new generation of Jazz enthusiast and future great Jazz musicians. Without art, the world would not be able to fully express itself through the mind's imagination.
We acknowledge and thank Ed Thigpen, Gregory Charles Royal, Wynton Marsalis and so many other Jazz Educators and Advocates; for their great work and contribution to Jazz music and Jazz education. Gregory Charles Royal, who holds a Master degree in Jazz Studies from Howard University, is a lecturer with the American Youth Symphony, a non-profit organization based in Washington, DC.
Royal is a former trombone soloist with the Grammy Award Winning Duke Ellington Orchestra, a Rap/R&B producer and is listed in the Biographical Encyclopaedia of Jazz (Oxford University Press 1999)
Jazz music is the only art form that is seeing a massive decline in its audience and listener ship!!
