About Me

...and the hits just keep on comin'! Check back for an updated bio that will include the latest chapter in the long wacky story of The Evidents. But in the meantime, here's something to chew on...
Being a short diversion of the dubious origins of The Evidents...
In the beginning there was Mick Crowley, guitarist, songwriter and self-professed wit, who early on destroyed any chance at a productive life by deciding he wanted to have a Rock & Roll band. After a few attempts at bands of varying degrees of lousiness with varying degrees of personnel, he found success through meeting the men who, with Mick, would all too soon form The Hate Bombs. After five years, two albums and tours across the country, Mick decided he had enough experience to start his own band, called (for no good reason) The Evidents. After a long incubation period of members dropping in, dropping out and sending thinly veiled threats of retaliation to the incubation of the situation, The Evidents arrived at a solid lineup that also includes Jeff Nowlin on bass-o-matic and Ken Chiodini on plunger and trap set. This band put out their first helLP in late 2001 called, cleverly enough, The Evidents. Another album full of thrills, spills and chills is on it's way. They are also noted for their live sets, wowing millions around the world and the greater tri-county area!!

Influences: Influences!! Fie on influence!! we were born pure as the seafoam off Zeus' quivering pecs...actually, we can profess to a modest bit o' influence in the formation of the sound one associates when they think of "Evidents". To wit: I've always said to no one in particular that The Ventures taught me to play guitar, The Beatles taught me to write songs, and The Stones taught me to go start a Rock and Roll band. I was lucky to have an older brother with good taste who played in a few bands around Chi-town in the late 60's...other than that, I dig: The Byrds, The Kinks, The Who, The Velvet Underground, The Zombies, The Yardbirds, The Pretty Things (you get points for having a "the", it's not hard to see) and those wonderful bands that were inspired by these bands and others, "Garage Rock" Jack White calls it...later on...MC5, Bowie, Bolan, Stooges, Groovies...then The Pistols, The Clash, The Jam and The Ramones.

Of course today there's The Woggles, The Swingin' Neckbreakers, The Heatseekers, The Minders, The Apples in Stereo, Thee Monarchy V, The Subsonics, The Delusionaires, Telephone, The JC's, Outkast...and too many more to mention, though not all of these later ones are "influences" as much as "inspirations"...or at least, we consider them "contemporaries". If you weren't mentioned and consider yourself a "contemporary" or at least someone who drank with us, consider space limitations, of if you haven't drank with us, please chat with us here...that's what this wonderful online community is all about!!!
Sounds Like: Yardbirds, Kinks, Velvet Underground
