Reid, Carlos "Satin" Greene, Stanley "Dee" Bristol, Stanley Burke, and Kevin Roberson. The SOLAR success story was by no means confined to one act, several other artists enjoyed success, including: Dynasty, Klymaxx, the Whispers, Lakeside, Midnight Star, Calloway, Carrie Lucas, and The Deele, which introduced singer/songwriter/producer Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds and future music executive Antonio "L.A." Reid. Griffey had always believed in giving new talents the opportunity to create and develop their craft, and he was the first to recognize songwriters/producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Reggie and Vincent Calloway, and Leon F. Sylvers III. The “SOLAR sound†was a collective effort, with artists working on each other's sessions and artists encouraged being creative. Sylvers was the producer behind the trademark SOLAR sound: funky, progressive dance music infused with soul and disco.The Grammy Award Winning Group “The Deele†emerged onto the scene with their debut single “Body Talkâ€, which went straight to the top of the R&B charts and their 1987 smash hit, "Two Occasions" reaching 4 on the POP charts, and is now back in the top 10 spotlight featured in Mariah Carey‘s Grammy nominated hit “We Belong Togetherâ€. This would be the beginning of an entity that would give birth to the most influential group of musicians and singers in the music industry today, changing the course of R&B forever. With Antonio "L.A." Reid and Kenny "Babyface" Edmonds branching off into their on solo careers, Kayo, Carlos, and Dee collectively produced, wrote, arranged, and performed on pop, adult contemporary, and R&B projects with over 50 million copies sold. Their expertise has included artists as diverse as Mariah Carey, Paula Abdul, Bar-Kays, Bootsy Collins, Johnny Gill, Babyface, TLC, Bobby Brown, Toni Braxton, The Whispers, Whitney Houston and many more.
