WHITE MAN KAMIKAZE

Who will survive... and what will be left of them?

About Me

GARAGE MONSTERS FOR THE MODERN ERA

This London based Quintet are a sonic explosion of discarded and re-absorbed record collections. A band determined to force its audience to leave obvious at the door and dance to the unrelenting unexpected. When receiving reviews the band (much to their amusement) have been invariably compared to every great band of every era: The Sonics, The Stooges, MC5, Castaways, The New York Dolls, The Doors, The Sex Pistols and The Clash have all been cited in lazy comparisons. Pigeon holes are for putting letters in and White Man Kamikaze are so much more than the sum of their influences. They are original. They are unique. They simply sound like White Man Kamikaze.

Armed with vintage equipment making new sounds steeped in nostalgia where loosing yourself in the music is to be encouraged, the band are not tainted with preconceptions of a scene, a look or a fast track manifesto to be NME cover stars. They are simply a band socially aware of the world they live and a band capable of interpreting and translating this with the accuracy of a Tomahawk missile… Graced with a good pair of heels.

An intense live spectacle as you will ever see, they have been tearing apart every venue they have graced in the last year. Kicking off in New York in 2006 XM radios Bill Cates claimed they were “The best live act I have seen since the Ramones in ‘76” and immediately gave them airplay. After playing New York’s franchise of Death Disco, BP Fallon enthusiastically labeled them “Noble Rock n Roll Savages with Great Haircuts”. On return to London, Alan Mcgee gave them his hard to get Death Disco stage two months in a row where the boys were filmed live and interviewed for a soon to be aired TV documentary on British Music featuring Pete Townsend, Glen Matlock and Paul Weller. The band have been offered residency after residency even turning hardened new ravers in Shoreditch into devout followers. During his recent tour Pop Levi specifically requested them as support for an exclusive show in South East London.

Legendary DJ and TV Host Mark Lamarr play listed White Man Kamikaze on his weekly BBC Radio 2 Gods Kitchen show. His on air rants of the track ‘Smile at the Widows’ have been fervent, claiming the track to be “Perfect in every way!” and included it in his top 20 of the year. The band also recorded a live session at the famous Maida Vale studios which was broadcast nationally in its entirety on 22/06/2007. Mark Lamarr described the session as phenomenal and has continued to show his support for the band across the airwaves.

After returning from a successful tour of the Baltic’s in October 2007 the band were hailed as London’s finest after a landslide public vote on XFM’s Uploaded show. Their tour diary was published in its entirety in London based magazine Who’s Jack www.whos-jack.co.uk who have since given the boys a monthly column. Further to this the band are fast becoming darlings of fashionable magazines from all over Europe including recent interviews with B-East Magazine http://www.beastnation.com/beast/. On December 20th acclaimed music critic and voice of Radio 2 Koit Raudsepp cited White Man Kamikaze’s legendary concert at the Von Krahl theatre in Tallinn as one of the highlights of 2007 in National Estonian news paper “Eesti Express”.
