FREE DIRT BAND is a coool instrumental group that plays and performs a combination of every kind of music from Classic Hard Rock to Jazz, Blues, Country, even Classical. This Instrumental band was formed in the fall of 2006. The core of the Band being: Rick Beard on guitars, Fred Grennan on bass guitar and J Mo on drums and percussion. After a few months of recording and playing gigs around the Detroit MI area, they met up with horn extraordinaire Nick Hansinger to play the trumpet in parts of the music instead of vocals FREE DIRT band members are all long time musicians of the Detroit Music Scene and have played performed and recorded an incredible variety of music with a wide range of styles and techniques. This Band is Super Entertaining Live with an Energetic Set of what REAL DETROIT WEEKLY Called “Southern – Fried Rock put through the Grit Blender that is Detroit.” “High Energy and “Jammy” with Trumpet Travelings. The live show consists of Cleverly Crafted Original Music and Instrumental Versions of Classic Cover songs. The occasional Guest Vocalist will join the band when required. This all makes Free Dirt Band a very versatile Group Ready to rock any Event or Show. The Band is about to release a 10 track Instrumental Album titled “DIG THIS” in early 2008. As Rick said on their recent live performance on WHFR 89.3 FM back in November “The Recording process has been a Blast and Hard Work.” The end result is a Totally Jamming Record that is filled with Riffs and hooks that will grab you. All put together To make one BIG SOUND….. the unmistakable sound of….. …..FREE DIRT BAND!
