About Me

the grandmasters was started for a jam session held at moby dicks lounge. the orig. band is the same band as listed today. but soon after beginning, tino showed a desire to be in front of a mike. a job which he does very well today.(And by the way, I am proud to have been a Diablo for 12 years. I'm sorry to have fucked it up for myself.) to let him get expierence doing that, i hired skeeto valdez to play drums. i had also added lifetime friend johnny evens to play sax. eddie got his big break and landed the gig with the black crowes. so i brought in keyboardist extrordinare lymon woodard. when eddie was off the road, i had both he and lymon playing at the same time. these were some of the best jam sessions i have ever been involved with. i don't think there are any tapes as mike bolands equipment didn't always work. but i do have an amazing photo album with both keyboardists side by side taken by my dear friend Ameen Howrani. thank you ameen for those and countless other photo sessions including the diablos, butler twins and uncle jessie white. slightly later, the diablos were formed. the grandmasters became my outlet for blues. i wasw approaching our first album with that in mind when all of a sudden, i lost my gig with the diablos. at that point my needs changed and in mid recording, i added the origionals that appear on the record. ii am proud of all the phases and all the players who have helped me make the grandmasters work for me over the 20 year span i just glazzed over for you. i consider all of you friends and hold you with the highest regard. thank you all. and thank everyone else who keeps encouraging me to continue. hope to hit you with fresh tracks soon. peace. jeff
