Cody LePow

AN EYE ON THE FUTURE, A NOD TO TRADITION

About Me

Cody LePow, currently based in Southern California, has combined the many influences in his life –from sweet Ojai ranch days to the musical pulse of Austin, Texas, considered his second home. Cody has masterfully integrated his love of vintage guitars and harmonicas, blending them with his traditional heroes into a unique soulful sound all his own. The singer/songwriter tagged “The West Coast Troubador” by the L.A. County Examiner, has truly achieved his own sense of style. Paolo Caru, editor of Europe’s Buscadero music magazine, calls LePow “a great and valuable talent on the horizon.” Patrick Schwarz of Night Moves magazine writes: “Cody’s sound has strong potential of becoming signature in years to come.”
LePow fuses the rich heritage of blues, rock and country and packs it all into his debut CD, Tales From A Dusty Southland, a record filled with strong crossover potential. Cody’s musical journey began early in his childhood and remains an enduring passion. He has shared the stage with Bonnie Raitt, Taj Mahal, and X and has performed and recorded with members of Dwight Yoakam, Lucinda Williams, Lenny Kravitz , the Eagles, the Pointer Sisters, and many others. LePow is comfortable as a bandleader, solo artist or producer of other artists. He has graced the stage as a featured performer at many popular venues, including The House of Blues, The Troubadour, The Whiskey, B.B. King’s, The Palomino, Ventura Theater, Belmont Station, Blue Café, Café Boogaloo, and many more as well as festivals and fairs across the country.
Cody’s songs have appeared on various movie and TV soundtracks and he is always looking for new projects. Amphion Productions and Motion Masters commissioned Cody to write the title song, Broken Wings,” for their 13 part documentary series hosted by Pat Morita, which profiles the struggles, dreams and accomplishments of people with disabilities. The series’ title, Broken Wings, was inspired by LePow’s song, “Angel With Broken Wings,” from his Tales From A Dusty Southland CD, which also won the Best Pop/Rock Song Award from the Houston/Fort Bend Songwriter’s Association. Several of his compositions and collaborations have earned awards and gained recognition.
Cody is currently in the studio completing two new CD projects and an EP showcasing his diverse styles. The CDs are Rock ‘N’ Roots/Americana collections, the first tentatively titled Any Day Now is scheduled for release in early 2007, and the second to follow shortly after. The EP is an electric/acoustic mix.
Whether listening to Cody LePow on CD, live in concert, online at his My Space website or in a soundtrack from a motion picture, even the most discriminating listener is instantly moved by the passionate means of expression and the spiritual manner in which this extraordinary singer/songwriter reaches us.
Cody’s soulful, sometimes introspective stories are artfully woven, as pieces of his life are shared on Tales Of A Dusty Southland, reminding the listener of a certain tradition that he tastefully carries on . . . a troubadour strumming his guitar and telling his story. Cody LePow has proven with this CD that he has an important musical contribution to make. Roots music lovers as well as soulful sound aficionados will agree that this release gives us something we can really sink our teeth into.
