About Me

Painter, etymology enthusiast. I've just been bestowed with a real desk, business cards, and the title of Events Editor at an LA Times operation called Metromix, which scours LA for its non-suckiest events, music, bars and chow. It was birthed with much giddy fanfare in July, and is now the cause of many a sleep-deprived night. But I still get really excited about bugs, ancient language, and rooftops.

My website, www.curiology.com, contains some older paintings, and is due for a merch-related facelift in the very near future.

A great man once taught me that there is no shame in drinking a wine spritzer.

My Interests

SPF 45, sad songs on the ukulele, word origins, high heels, knee socks, yerba mate, well-earned solitude, finding parking, cloud cover, barbecued meats.

Currently: Special Topics in Calamity Physics and second hand non-fiction about pioneers. Also appreciated: The Tipping Point, She's Come Undone, Professor and the Madman, plenty o' Vonnegut, much Kerouac, William Golding is an old favorite, Eggers...And I love me my reference books: a 1934 copy of Gray's Anatomy, the invaluable Barnhart Concise Dictonary of Etymology, and Seba's Cabinet of Natural Curiosities.
