USED2Bsyris is a 3 piece grunge/hard rock Band formed in the depth of the Kalahari Desert, Gaborone, Botswana. Raised in cattle farms and growing up killing animals for survival. The trio initially met up while trying to track and kill an elephant, they soon expressed their views about making a successful band and putting Botswana on the map. Not just being known for its diamond mining and beef export, but as the origion of a great rock band. David Garbers (guitarist, vocalist), the head of the tribe, chants melodies that can cripple a zebra, expresses views of the deprived lifestyle and anger accompanied with growing up in a place where you are can shout to your own echo. Mark Rose (drummer), grew up playing an African drum made of cow skin and baobab tree. He travelled to South Africa by donkey cart to get a proper drum kit so that he could learn to play modern drums like the bands he heard on cassette. Once formed with Garbers, Rose’s drumming sounded like 30 Khoi San celebrating an elephant kill. Chris Baillie (bassist), the glue of the band, lays down layer after layer of phat bass under the bands grunge filled sound. Creating a groove which will still be felt after the final chord. Together the band create a wave of fresh new music, from a place that is virtually unknown to the outside world. They started playing shows around Botswana to make a name for themselves, to gain respect and introduce the first Grunge Rock band to ever live in the land. As the years passed the band played bigger shows, touring through Botswana and South Africa. The biggest show being the Kalahari Summer Festival, attracting 6000 people, a headline slot alongside South African No. 1 Prime Circle. USED2Bsyris began recording their debut album in early February 2006, titled the Virus. Documenting that there is rock in Botswana, and can be interpreted at a professional level. In the fall of 2006 USED2Bsyris officially relocated in London. Searching for gigs and shows that can put them in a position to make an impact in a foreign country where they can actually make a difference.USED2Bsyris http://used2bsyris.bebo.com/
