The Ravens was formed in August 2006 by Fred Green and Rich Trigg. Drawing on their extensive influences and years of band experience, they had an initial jam and sounded very very bad. Consequently they headed down the boozer, got blind drunk and discussed how great they had sounded and how much potential they could harness into their modern sound. They named the band after the pub, The Raven, and later mused that it was bloody lucky they hadn't been drinking in the Prince Albert that night. After the wrath of grapes took hold the next morning the idea was shelved for about four months. By December Rich and Fred had just about sobered up and decided to sort the band out properly. J was drafted in to play the bass. The band knew that he was a classically trained musician with punk rock credentials, but had not realised at the time that he had never played bass before. J hired a bass and the band booked in at Bush Studios for a laugh. Surprisingly, it sounded alright. However, The Ravens needed a lead guitarist. They tried all the obvious candidates that they knew, most of whom were into similar bands such as The View, The White Stripes and The Kinks. However, they failed to gell with these guys so Fred put forward his last resort - Hereward, a mate from school, who had been in thrash metal bands and lived on a staple diet of bats' heads and Absinthe since leaving school. Despite the obvious cultural differences and initial teething problems the band developed a sound that they were all pleased with, and started writing songs and playing gigs. The Ravens are now known for their performances which are, predictably, drunken parties. All gigs so far have been sold out and the band is looking to play more venues, particularly in London.
