Every day I try to be a little more like me...

About Me

I'm a writer, producer and journalist. I co-founded Happy Cloud Pictures with Amy Lynn Best and Bill Homan. I've written for a lot of major genre film magazines, but these days I concentrate on writing for Film Threat. I have a running column over at B-Movie.com called "Random Acts of Mike Watt". In 1997, I wrote and directed my first short, "Tenants", which is currently available on the "Campfire Tales" DVD through SRS Cinema, LLC. In 1998, we started production on "The Resurrection Game", which I wrote, directed and edited (on film...on an upright Moviola...and later I personally cut the negative...then I re-edited digitally... then I RE-re-edited all the sound...filmmaking sucks...) Much later, 2002, I wrote and Amy directed the award-winning short, "Were-Grrl". Amy had so much fun, she directed "Severe Injuries", from my feature screenplay. Both are now available on DVD, also through SRS Cinema ( B-Movie.com ). We're now shopping "The Resurrection Game" and working on pre-production on two other projects. Because, you know, we're insane... To fill the rest of my waking hours, I write screenplays (such as Dead Men Walking for The Asylum and The Screening for G. Cameron Romero) and edit the magazine Sirens of Cinema . I also contribute to Film Threat and Fangoria Online . Sometimes, I sit staring at the wall and daydream that I'm asleep... And while I never do these things, I couldn't resist this one:
You Are Kermit
Hi, ho! Lovable and friendly, you get along well with everyone you know.
You're a big thinker, and sometimes you over think life's problems.
Don't worry - everyone know's it's not easy being green.
Just remember, time's fun when you're having flies! The Muppet Personality Test

My Interests

Writing, editing, filmmaking, watching movies, discussing movies, wishing I had more in my life to talk about... reading, sleeping...

I'd like to meet:

Oddly enough, a lot of the people I communicate with online or over the phone are folks I've never met in person. So... them.I've also learned the hard way, however, that "if you admire the art, never meet the artist". With that caveat in mind, I'd still like to sit down face-to-face with Robert Rodriguez, Richard O'Brien, Clive Barker, Christopher Moore and Rob Zombie.

Music:

My musical tastes reached an odd stasis around 2001. My favorites have remained pretty constant: Rob Zombie, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Kate Bush, The Monkees, Harry Nilsson, The Who, Pink Floyd, They Might Be Giants, Peter Gabriel, Peter Murphy, early Nine Inch Nails, Liz Phair, L7, GWAR, soundtracks to Little Shop of Horrors, Rocky Horror Picture Show...
