About Me

When I was five years old I saw the original King Kong and my genetic structure was altered forever. Ever since I have had the drive to make movies and pictures and do my best to create some thrills and excitement through film and art.
A talented Junior High friend now successful comedy writer, Kurt Luchs taught me some basics of drawing superheroes and turned me on to Frank Frazetta and my art career began. Thanks Kurt! I am mostly self taught. I had my heroes (see Heroes below) and I tried to figure out the skills and education they needed to do what they do and go that path.
My first significant illustration assignment was creating artwork and maquettes (small sculptures of monsters) for Bill Baetz's The Cry of Cthulhu. My first Lovecraftian film project. I was never paid for anything and the film was never made but Bill got some of my art published in articles about the film in Cinefauntastique and Starlog. I was on the board, so to speak.
Since then I have been fortunate doing special effects and creating props for Sam Raimi's The Evil Dead, Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn, The Army of Darkness and The Fly Part 2
I was an Illustrator for Chaosium Inc. A company out in Oakland, California that makes role playing games. I mostly painted and did pen and ink drawings for The Call of Cthulhu, their game based on the writings of H. P. Lovecraft.
Now I am acting in films, such as The Dread (with Ellen Sandweiss of Evil Dead) , The Absence of Light, A Sheer Agenda, Buddy Be Bop Vs. The Living Dead.(Starts filming in June), Morrow Road (starts this summer and also stars most of the cast of The Evil Dead) and others I am waiting to hear about my casting on (I hope). A You Tube or Google Video search on some of those titles will reveal trailers and film clips
I illustrated the covers for American Atheist Magazine for a short while. I think I did 7 or 8 of them and think that is some of my most interesting work.
I have also written a published 4 part comic book called: Tom Sullivan's Books of the Dead: Devilhead. It is a very violent, gory Lovecraftian story that starts in Iraq, 1983 and follows the predicament of two authors framed for a mass murder they did not commit and the hell they go through to clear their names.
Lots of monsters and madness. Just like real life. It is published by Dead Dog Comics and Issue Number Two is on stands now. My final draft of my Zombie epic is about done and I will be pitching that out in Los Angeles this Summer. There is much more to come.
In the meantime I get to meet my fans at horror film conventions across the land and that is the best reward of all.
