We are all in agreement that the laws concerning sentencing for crimes against children are sadly disproportionate to the crimes. It is time that we, as citizens of our respective states, and citizens of this country, tell our elected officials that the laws need to be changed.
There is a site called petitiononline.com that tell our elected officials exactly what we think about any number of things. Grassroot causes, like this one, are now easily able to take advantage of the internet.
Granted, most of us believe that those who commit crimes against children should just be put out of their misery. Personally, I believe that anyone who commits a rape (especially against a child) should face the death penalty. However, we have to be realistic. Most likely that will never happen. In our lifetime anyway. The one state I’m aware of in the South that has the death penalty for child rapists is about to go before the Supreme Court to find out if their law is Constitutional.
The changes listed are realistic while also being very tough on the offenders. It lets them know that we are fed up. That we aren’t going to take it anymore.
Let your friends know about the petitions and spread the word. We need signatures to get our politicians to listen to us. The more people that sign, the more they will listen. They’re even set up so that any legal citizen can sign. You don’t have to be a registered voter to sign. Registered voters aren’t the only ones who are affected by the laws that govern our individual states.
