En effet, en France, certaines critiques ont été plus préoccupé par son soi disant caractère ombrageux et en ont oublié l’essentiel : un artiste unique et perfectionniste qui n’a cessé de se renouveler pour arriver aujourd’hui à 60 ans au sommet de son art. On retrouve tout au long de sa carrière les prémices de ses orientations musicales, préfigurant ce qui devait suivre par la suite. Toutes les œuvres musicales dans l’histoire de la musique ont été faite ainsi.
