Composer & singer Vasek Vasak (V. V.) was born in 1949 in Prague (Czech Republic, Europe). He studied music composition at conservatory. In 1960s he was singing with couple of rock bands at rock festivals in Czech Republic and Slovakia. He won The Best Rock Singer Awards twice (later he also won TV music competition Hitsarada, music Prize Vecerni Praha, he was 3rd at OITR international competition etc.). In 1970s V.V. was the frontman of rock band Beatus (its members were Jiri Vesely, bgt, later ETC, Stromboli, Prazsky vyber, Vaclav Vesely, gt, later ETC, Irish Dew and Jiri Starek, ds, Jaroslav Cada, kb). When the legendary Czech rock singer Jiri Schellinger died V. V. became the member of F.R. Cech band Jiri Schellinger played with. V. V. performed in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Hungary, Belgium, Greece, France & South Africa. Since middle of 1980s he started to perform more often in theatres and rock clubs. Since 1991 V. V. has started to perform and record (three CDs) with alternative rock band Aktual.
V.V. has composed music for film (GOREALITY - directed by Taylor Hayden, DOBRY DEN PANE UMENI - directed by O. Kepka), television films (mostly documents), theatre, ballet (GENESIS) and for Czech top singers (V. Spinarova, H. Zagorova, J. Korn etc.).
V. V. recorded 6 discs & 11 CDs. TENSION, BIG BOSS, MR. HAS BEEN, I HEAR YOU, ELECTRIC COUNTRY, BIRTH, ETHNIC No.1, YOUR HEART, BLIND MIRROR, ZENSKY SRDCE plus 5, MASKY (this album is placed in the Museum of Vladimir Vysockij in Koszalin (Poland).
Since 1991 V. V. is also journalist, photographer & writer. He has written six books: JO TO TENKRAT, Z OPERETY DO OPERETY, JAK NACHYTAT LELKY, JAK POSNIDAT LELKY, NEZAPOMENUTELNE PRIBEHY, POUT ZA CERNYM KRISTEM PETI SVETADILY (Miroslav Ivanov Literary Price 2008).
V. V. was for 24 years member of soccer team Amfora of Czech and Slovak celebrities with which he played all around the world. He is honorary citizen of the city Asuncion (Paraguay).
V.V. has three children & four grandchildren.
