Ever wonder how on earth somebody actually becomes a professional wrestler? It’s a lot less glamorous than you might think...

Over the last several decades, for 20 bucks a night in front of crowds of less than 100, the “stars” of the Tri-Cities International Championship Wrestling Federation (TCICWF) have been trying to make it to the big time by performing their own campy brand of sports entertainment. In the process, they have offended almost everybody in town.

When Al Thompson, grizzled ex-wrestler and the TCICWF's promoter, learns that the lease on the federation's arena is not being renewed, he announces that the TCICWF will be shutting down for good and promptly disappears on a drinking binge. The eccentric and clueless wrestlers will have one last chance to show the world that they belong in the big leagues.

With Al gone, The Rocket Randy Tyler, the TCICWF champion, becomes responsible for running the TCICWF's final show before it closes its doors forever. In the process, Tyler has to soothe the ego of Steve Justice, his former tag team partner, ensure that there are enough wrestlers to fill out the federation's depleted roster, and control the troubling urges of an announcer who appears to have an unnatural fixation with midgets.

In much the same way that This is Spinal Tap lampooned the world of heavy metal music and Best in Show skewered the sub-culture of competitive dog breeding, Kayfabe pulls no punches while revealing the hilarious absurdities of independent professional wrestling.
