About Me

Bobby Parris began playing drums professionally at the age of twelve. A blind man whose name was L.B. Brown tutored Bobby in songwriting. L.B. Brown had been the keyboard player for Muddy Waters. Bobby Parris first recorded at the age of fourteeen. At the age of 16, Bobby toured with Haze Express backing up such groups as the Coasters, and Archie Bell and the Drells.Bobby started a gosple group called Gosple II opened up for the Mighty Clouds of Joy, Willie Neal, and the Lumsey Sisters .They performed in many churches during subsequent years. Bobby toured the secular circuit as the drummer/vocalist with blues legend, Long John Hunter.Bobby Parris produces, plays drums, rhythm, lead and bass guitar, percussions and is a lead vocalist. His vocals style is rich, melodic and sexy. Bobby’s musical influences are Al Green, Tyronne Davis, and Otis Redding. Bobby’s business savy prompted him to learn the music business, including having owned his own record label. The song MOOD SWING is sung by Bobby Parris and features the legendary Long John Hunter. MOOD SWING written by Parris & Parris for Nu Vision Records."Hunter’s backing band of Bobby Parris (drums), Tommy Washington (keyboards) and Tracy Mortimer (bass) warmed up the crowd with a nasty funk groove called “The Walking Catfish,” “Knock On Wood” sung by Mortimer and Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” with vocals courtesy of Parris. The big man then made his entrance with a flourish on his original instrumental “Hey Baby,” slapping his strings for a percussive thwack on the swinging shuffle. More funk followed on “That’s It” as Hunter accompanied his reedy voice with short, sax-like bursts. He changed it up with “Crazy Love,” using the languid pace of the melancholy slow blues to showcase his deep, honking guitar tones greasing rolling, dynamic licks that began and ended with musical logic. “The Thing” goosed the energy back up as the rangy bluesman snapped off dyads like a bleating horn section contrasted with rapid mandolin-type strums."
