About Me

http://www.live365.com/stations/tesstify2 The grooviest blues, classic and contemporary electric blues, jump blues, New Orleans, blues/rock, swing, British blues, Classic R & B, Hammond B3 grooves.Blues groove is a blues radio station on Live 365. I decided that as I have such a large collection of music I'd like to share some of it with people who want to hear it! I've been a DJ on local radio BBB FM for several years now as presenter of Blues and rock at 5 O Clock and sharing the spot on Saturday night blues. I started listening to blues and R & B in my early teens and was lucky that at that time the British blues boom was happening. Living in London I got to see all the great British bands live and also many of the American blues greats like Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, John Lee Hooker, Freddie and BB King and Sonny Boy Williamson who played there in the 60's. I grew up watching bands like John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Georgie Fame and the Blue Flames, Zoot Money's Big Roll Band and Chris Farlowe and the Thunderbirds. My spare money all went on gigs and buying records. I bought lots of vinyl in those days. Then for a while when the blues scene died I got into jazz and rock. For quite a few years after that I was busy working, studying and raising kids but then in the early 90's I bought a CD player and began collecting music again! In the early 80's me and my family moved to Australia, living first in Wollongong near Sydney and then in Adelaide. I lived in California for a while in the mid 90's and bought a lot of music there. I visit the US regularly and am hoping to go back soon to spend time with my man John Earl Walker. I think I have a pretty good music collection built up over about 46 years so I'd like to share it with you! I'm not really after more music at the moment as I have way more than I can play!!If I find some cool new tunes that really fit the style of the station though of course I'll include them. This site is to connect with people who are interested in the music I play. I play mainly original contemporary blues, lesser known classics, jump blues and R & B. Because I'm a big fan of Hammond organ there are some Hammond B3 instrumentals in the mix too (thats the Groove bit of Blues groove!)and a few British bands. I reject more friends than I add because I can't see the point of connecting with people who are not either fans or artists playing the music I love. Whats the point of having 20,000 so called friends on Myspace? Unfortuntely internet radio is in jeopardy right now due to a dispute over royalty rates. This will impact on artists out of the mainstream who are getting airplay on internet radio stations. If you support internet radio and want it to continue please contact your politicians. So far I've had a great response to Blues groove with many listeners tuning in regularly and adding it to their pre-sets so hope you will tune in regularly too!! Your comments and suggestions are welcome! Enjoy listening to Blues groove!! Tess and John Earl Walker July 2006.. Tess and Michael Cafe Wha NYC 2006 NYC 2006 Tess in Oz 2005 Tess 1968!
