After being dreamed and talked about during many a booze addled night Rocstar was conceived between two collaborators and old mates Lee Potter (Cut La Roc) and Marco Distefano (then Director Of Music for BT and part time musician) Disenchanted by existing contracts Lee and Marco originally created Rocstar feeling there was a space in the industry for a record label that brought the very cutting edge of music to the forefront minus all the bollocks, and with Marcos’s business acumen and Lee’s repertoire and industry know how it all made perfect sense. Thus in 2002 Rocstar was finally born. A friend of Lee’s, Ashley Slater (Freak Power), inspired by the boys enthusiasm and with some tunes up his sleeve, was soon signed. Chad Jackson joined rank too and all was set. A couple of Ep’s down the line and all felt that there was definitely room for some new blood, so up stepped lofty young producers Hereldeduke (Ol Brown) throwing us some Hip Hop vibes featuring Kool Keith (after some lengthy negotiating!) and the Beat Traffikers, all the way from the Gold Coast in Oz with their very own mixture of pop/breakbeat/punk. 5 years on and with a we are currently promoting our 1st album “Nemesis†by Cut Roc, and we’re proud to have signed album deals with new artists, Parker, Schmidt and Drive DD (formerly Bentley Rhythm Ace!!) Combine that with the brand new major distribution deal that Rocstar has just signed and I think it’s sure to be a great year for us!
