PUSH Biography:
PUSH started a couple of years back with a chance meeting of Robin and Dan while tearing up clubs on Technics 1210 DJ decks. Robin had been playing all over the UK and had been performing Home made Drum and Bass tracks on Inspiration FM. By this point Knowledge magazine (UK’s Premium Breaks and Drum and Bass magazine) had awarded his mixing with “UK winner†bad ass. Dan, 95 gigs and 100 parties last year, check his mixes in the DJ mix section. Turn the bass up and blow up your brain. http://www.pushdjs.com/DJmixpage.htm
Robin and Dan formed PUSH and quickly learned to use the CDJ as a creative tool. Using the Numark Axis 9 deck. Each deck has 3 loops and 14 FX. PUSH control everything with the crazy touch sensitive silver DJ wheel thing on the top, until the deck wears out and then they replace it. Between them Robin and Dan mix on 4 decks. (Usually switching one on and off to get it to work.)
Some where in the last year, Robin and Dan teamed up with Sandeep Raval “World Multi percussionist†while jamming live at a freestyle session called MUMBO JUMBO. Robin and Dan were licking it up on 4 Decks, with 3 live percussionists. Rapidly it became a proper session and meeting point for people who gave a sh*t about good music and people’s right to perform music live. Session Percussionists came from Africa, India and the UK. If you want more about Sandeep Raval – Type his name in Google. (Sandeep has met the queen you haven’t.)
All we need now is some vocals. Enter the Taharka. Robin and Dan hooked up with Taharka through Alex the promoter at the Boiler Room in Birmingham on the Karma night. Taharka blew up the spot. Weeks later his golden vocals debuted with PUSH (Robin,Dan,Sandeep,Taharka, with Dave from Birmingham on Bass). T is a Super trooper on stage; his vocals make the crowd bounce and point.
“It was unstoppable music like never before. They make them dirty shapes on the Dancefloorâ€
At this point Robin and Dan sold their redundant 1210s and bought a laptop, and recorded the commotion so other people could enjoy it. Some of PUSH’s tracks stream on the PUSH myspace www.myspace.com/pushdjs
Next step, PUSH started exploring the laptop as a creative instrument, by hooking up an OXYGEN 8 keyboard so they could hammer our live synths and SUBS and samples to the crowd’s pleasure. The gigs rolled in…….Amsterdam, London ,Spain, Birmingham, Leeds. Clubs, Festivals and Countries claimed on the list of achievements.
With his very loose vocal style that has been described as Just Jack meets The Streets, Robin has sung on a few PUSH tracks, due for release this year, (bring it!). Again check it on the Myspace.
Coming up in 2007------------------
The Future is Bright....Amsterdam, Birmingham, London, Leeds, Newquay and The Dragon Festival on the “Tribal PUNK†stage Orgiva Spain. PUSH would like representation from the right person or organisation. To keep their sh*t together. They’re going there anyway. Music published (something’s gotta give soon) A cracking RMX opportunity. Some bad ass gigs. A decent party with real people not plastic robots.
“PUSH are Live Musicians (from Clubland/ DJ Roots) with new music for people to Dance to"
