Jawa previously earned his stripes as a resident dj under the name Jahwoosh at the legendary Tokyo Sex Whale parties in the early nineties,which took him all over the europe including slots at the berlin love parade and the now famous Universe parties. His exceptional ability,unique style and early support of breaks earned further dj slots around the country playing for idj magazine. More recently Jawa has helped to set up the dj collective 'We Don't Play'
where he regularly plays along side breakbeats A-list. As the club night has gone from strength to strength it has taken him around Europe including dj slots at the Echo Festival (Serbia), Electric Picnic (Ireland),Glastonbury Festival and the Glade plus Bristol's prestigious breaks night Blowpop.
Jawa is also no stranger to the studio environment where he has created his own studio outfit which incorporates complete pieces of original music, bootlegs, scratching, samples and effects. His recent signing to 'Surgery Records UK'
has seen the success of his first solo release 'IT'S ON' which got to number 2 in the streetwise charts as well as getting air play on various radio stations worldwide. Another of Jawa's projects is the Beatcats, he works along side Dr Moody (Blowpop) and Stitch (Fantasy Rushhour) a heavy weight breaks producer from South Africa. The Beatcats were the first artists signed to Surgery Music UK with their debut single 'The Beatcats' delivering the harder side of breaksOther studio work has also included music for Channel 4 (diverse productions) a remix for Sandeep Chowta (Sony Records) which had a choreographed dance performed at the Royal Festival Hall in London and work with Robosapiens (Dead Famous Records) on his latest release 'CAUSE & EFFECT'Jawa also finds time to teach music technology and djing to the youth of bristol at the long running 'Basement Studio Project' " I find it very refreshing working with young people as they have so much enthusiasm for the music".
