About Me

Jamie Castrisos (B.Mus (Perf), DipMus(Jazz)) is a Sydney based freelance drummer and percussionist.He began playing the drums at the tender of age of nine. He went on to High School at North Sydney Boys High School and was lucky enough to be there when the jazz programme started, and still does workshops at the school to date.He studied a Bachelor of Music in classical percussion at the Sydney Conservatorium with Daryl Pratt and Richard Miller before completing a Diploma of Music in jazz studies primarily with Andrew Dickeson, but also, Gordon Rytmeister, Dick Montz, Paul MacNamara, Judy Bailey, Craig Scott, Steve Brien and Bill Motzing.He has been privleged enough to have played with and can be seen playing with the likes of the James Morrison sextet, Emma Pask, Dan Barnett, John Harkins trio, Jason Morphett, Orghan-um trio, Lotsa Leslie, Ian Cooper, Tim Fisher trio, Nic Jeffries, Papa Groove, Tim Oram Big Band, Richard Maegraith, The Wonderbrass, Rachelle Medley, Nat Conway, Synergy, Liz Carthew, John Calder, Earl Gray, Sydney RAAF Band, (where he's worked with the likes of Doug Parkinson, Grace Knight, Catherine Hunter, Glen Shorrock, Adrian Ross, The McClymonts)The Sydney Youth Orchestra, The Sydney Conservatorium Jazz Orchestra, Quorum Big Band, Sydney Opera House Orchestra.Jamie is in high demand as a drummer, percussionist and tutor throughout Sydney.
