Starbucks' Music Label Releases First CD
Caffeine junkies who go to Starbucks for their daily fix will get a nonstop dose of Paul McCartney's "Memory Almost Full" on Tuesday as the coffee company's new record label releases its first CD.
Starbucks Corp. estimates that some 6 million people will be among the first to hear the new album as they line up for their lattes in more than 10,000 stores in 29 countries, where it will be playing on continuous loop throughout the day.
It's a tactic most retailers would not likely attempt "probably for no other reason than not wanting to drive their workers insane," quipped Mike McGuire, a media analyst for Gartner Inc.
Warner Jackson Goods Net About $500,000
Jackson family memorabilia brought in about half a million dollars on the first of a two-day auction at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, auctioneer Guernsey's said Thursday. The auction, which wraps up late Thursday, displayed more than 1,100 lots, mostly costumes, documents, awards and other memorabilia.

Reunited Police Begin World Tour
Playing loud and loose like they had never been away, the Police kicked off their first world tour in more than 20 years Monday, delivering a two-hour set for 20,000 fans in Canada.
Singer/bass player Sting , guitarist Andy Summers and drummer Stewart Copeland dusted off old favorites such as "Message in a Bottle," "Roxanne" and "Every Breath You Take" during the show, the first of two at the GM Place arena.
"Since we haven't been together in 25 years, I'd like to introduce the band. Andy, this is Stewart," a casual Sting joked a few songs into the concert.
Famous fans in attendance included actress Penelope Cruz, and Pearl Jam rock singer Eddie Vedder. Sting 's wife, Trudie Styler, sang along ecstatically from her seventh-row berth, accompanied by Jerry Moss, the co-founder of the Police's A&M Records label.

Prince rejects Jacko tour offer
Prince has snubbed Michael Jackson's request for the pair to tour together this summer, according to reports.
The diminutive legend was apparently approached by his embattled pop contemporary as he prepares for this summer's enormous London residency.
Jackson has recently been working on his first new album since 2001's Invincible, and is also mapping out plans for a live return.
However, Prince is understood to have rejected the offer according to a "source," who explained: "Michael seemed pretty gutted about it. He said he'd approached Prince to see if he would like to work together. But Prince wasn't interested in gigging with him.
"There would be so much hype surrounding Wacko's first gig it would end up turning into the Michael Jackson show. Prince had his own plans. He is a legend in his own right. He doesn't need to be support for anyone," the source told London's The Sun.
Meanwhile, Prince, who plays gigs throughout August and September at the O2 Arena in London, has also announced he will appear at Macy's in Minneapolis this summer.
The concert, which will be attended by 1,400 people each paying $250 for a ticket, takes place on July 7.
