Norm Applegate is currently developing the screenplay for an early 2009 release of horror, thriller “Into the Basement.".
Norm Applegate is the author of two books in the Kim Bennett series “Into the Basement,” and “Into the Spell,” with the third to be released in the summer of 2008, titled “Into the Haven.” Also, published and scheduled for release in February of 08 is a horror anthology titled “From the Shadows,” which features Nicholas Grabowsky of the Halloween IV novelization. This film will be directed by J.L. Botelho, CEO and founder of Triad Pictures, who has been directing since the early 90’s when he wrote and directed his first feature length film titled Dying for Attention, then followed up with The Killing Lens and Raising the Dead.

Music:
Sapphire Solace is the new side project and collaboration of musicians Velvet Shadow and Rick Joyce. Bringing together electronic sounds and the stylistic guitars of Rick, the project is a musical interweaving of electronic instrumentation, and vocal expression, a musical pair designed to portray emotions at their truest meaning. Their song "Completely," will be featured on the trailer.

After lecturing at USF in Tampa, Kim Bennett is pulled from her flight to San Francisco. The Mayor’s daughter has been murdered. As Kim and FBI agent A.L. Hague attempt to solve the murder they are drawn into the dark world of hypnosis and the occult.

" EROTIC THRILLER!!! WOW! Into the Spell is not your Momma's thriller. It is, however, an excellent read that will make you turn the pages as quickly as you can - Kim Bennett, who was introduced in Applegate's Into the Basement is in Tampa Florida for a lecture - as she is boarding a plane to go home, she is taken off of the plane because the lady who drove her to the event and airport was found dead - As a matter of fact, there have been murders in the area that seem to echo the Son of Sam murders - There is this hypnotist Titus, who is one sick puppy, that is in communication with the spirit of Madam Blavatsky - In case you have never heard of her, she was one of the most famous psychic/mediums of her time - you can still get her books - (she wasn't into the dark stuff - she was and is a great source of the occult) Titus hypnotizes folks and does whatever he wants with them - And that means EVERYTHING...from sex to murder. Kim and Special Agent Hague try to stop Titus and his evil. Kim Bennett is a strong character - she is a very different heroine - a former madam who is into S&M and domination - but you find yourself rooting for her - There is a different take on vamps and/or vamp wannabees in this book - I don't know about that tack - but they factor in this book, and more so in the next of the Bennett series Into the Haven. Spell is a scary taut book that will give the readers' share of chills and a new heroine to root for - Applegate is a poised author with innovative ideas to entertain and scare his readers.

Into The Spell by Norm Applegate is clearly a different approach to the typical who dun it murder mystery. Repleat with oddball characters, Applegate takes the reader through a series of macabre scenes of sex, the occult and murder. While several leading characters seek to solve the mystery surrounding a series of unexplained deaths stiched together by a 44 Bulldog Pug revolver, the reader is left to feel his way through the laberynth of a dark, psychotic underground of the mind created by a sick psycopathic killer who placed spells on his adversaries. Its a good read and challenges the reader not to figure out who the killer is but rather what crazy, unexpected harm would befall the characters and how would they escape, if in fact they did!! Lots of twists and turns. Lock your doors!!
