Norm Applegate, is an author and consultant, with a growing body of work to his credit. Born in Glasgow Scotland, growing up in Toronto Canada and now residing in Sarasota Florida with his wife Cheryl, Norm Applegate works and travels for an international consulting company, then occasionally scares the “heck” out of his family with his thoughts and writings.
Norm’s writing began while travelling through New Zealand and Australia as a Hypno-therapist with colorful letters to his family of his tales as a hypnotist and the unexplained.
His early years in Toronto were filled with aspirations of the late 60’s Yorkville hippie music scene, and as a drummer in numerous bands led to a short lived career playing the bars and clubs in the Toronto area. The band Photograph, signed to a recording studio, made some noise on the coast to coast CBC radio show, the Entertainers, and after the legal issues strangled them into submission, they went their separate ways. The life of drugs, sex and rock and roll were over, sad but true.
After a few years of travel, he had the bug, and entered the world of management consulting to become a road warrior, and is now a 2 million miler with Delta. Away from home and with the desire to write a novel it began. His first book, “Into the Basement,” is a raw, dark thriller...
...As the realization of abducted and murdered women hits Kim Bennett, she is compelled to assist three Detectives in their search for answers. She has just found out the most recent victim is her half sister...whom she hates. Re-tracing the steps of the discarded prey...Kim becomes the next victim. Abducted and taken into the basement. Kim Bennett’s world spirals into a dark story mixed with horror and fear as she struggles to save herself and sister. He looks grungy, his room is grungy but he is polished at what he does. Taken by the Russian Victor Gorsky, a henchman to the sinful Wong Lee, Kim faces humiliation, torture and murder...there is no escape!
His second novel of the Kim Bennett series, “Into the Spell,” explores a copy cat Son of Sam killer and hypnosis... ...After lecturing at USF in Tampa, Kim Bennett is pulled from her flight to San Francisco. The Mayor’s daughter has been murdered. As Kim and FBI agent A.L. Hague attempt to solve the murder, they are drawn into the dark world of hypnosis and the occult. The situation takes an unexpected turn when Kim discovers the murders are similar to that of the Son of Sam. Faced with the reality that they are dealing with a deranged hypnotist who speaks to the dead, Kim realizes that sometimes evil is all in your head...
Early 2008, Norm will have a short story called “Jumpers,” in the horror anthology “From the Shadows.” He currently developing the screenplay for his novel “Into the Basement,” with Nicholas Grabowsky and director J. L. Botelho of Triad Pictures, and is at work on his third novel in the Kim Bennett series, “Into the Haven.” As Kim Bennett would say, “Don’t be stupid, vampires aren’t real.”
Into the Basement the novel is available at Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com

He’s a veteran special guest at numerous genre conventions including Fangoria, Horrorfind, and the World Horror Convention, and makes appearances and signings across the United States. Sapphire Solace is the new side project and collaboration of musicians Velvet Shadow and Rick Joyce. Bringing together electronic sounds and the stylistic guitars of Rick, the project is a musical interweaving of electronic instrumentation, and vocal expression, a musical pair designed to portray emotions at their truest meaning. Their song "Completely," will be featured on the trailer.
Would you like to meet the characters of “Into the Basement,” I’m sure you would, let me introduce them...
Kim Bennett
Kim is our heroine. She's a muscular, brunette with hair down around her shoulders, a strong but feminine jaw line and cheek bones that give her that sultry look. Moving from New Jersey to San Francisco she grew a successful clientele of men and woman who wanted nothing more than pain with their pleasure. With a reputation of making young girls do thing they have never done before, Kim is a professional in the edgy world of S&M. Her favourite music is the sound of leather striking someone’s ass. When nervous or bored, has a disturbing habit of counting the letters in words people say. Street smart, and with an uncanny ability for memorization, she is an old soul, hardened on the outside, a huge heart, and won’t run from trouble. Oh yeah, don’t ever challenge her with a dare.
Wong Lee
Chinese thug from Hong Kong, who grew up in America and never had the respect from his rival gangsters became obsessed with notoriety. Abduction, torture, murder and all captured on film. Wong Lee is ruthless and has a weakness for torturing women.
Victor Gorsky
From his birth in the Soviet Union, he was grungy, his room was grungy, and his life was grungy. Victor is a rugged European, usually has growth on his face, dark brown eyes, thin lips, black hair, and when described by women good looking was never mentioned. But he was good, very good at what he does...abduction!
Billy Kennedy
A former marine, and one of Kim’s johns and boyfriend can’t stay out of trouble. Billy has his own demons that stem from a career as a hit man. Faithful, he understands you can’t control an inferno like Kim.
Detective Randy Morrison
We won’t tell his wife that he has a passionate love interest with Kim. Having known each other for years, Lt. Randy Morrison a detective with the San Francisco PD can’t resist her, wherever she is, whatever trouble she’s in, he’s there. Greyish hair, Kim can’t resist the charm of an older man either.
Detective Scott Langely
His name is Scott Langely a rookie, in his thirties, blonde, good looking, and knows it. From a football player in college to joining the police softball team, Scott keeps himself in shape. Married but that doesn’t stop him from looking, oh yeah, initially disliked Kim but came to realize she is a tough cookie.
Detective Karen Charwinsky
Athletic, single and living in San Francisco works homicide. Coincidently, while exploring her sexual interests discovered she also has a thing for dominating women. This well built, tall brunette was just the type of woman Kim likes to challenge.
