About Me

"Songs so catchy you will need a lobotomy to get them out of your head."
Philadelphia based FLYNSOLO captures the true essence of great pop music with strong songwriting, talented musicianship, and experienced record producers. With their new release Addictions the band brings an eclectic mix of rock, jazz, americana, Latin, soul, dance, and classical music. The new album boasts delicate arrangements, velvety textures, anthemic choruses, and flawless performances. The lyrical and musical themes immediately resonate in the hearts and minds of all who listen. Addictions is a major label quality CD without major label support.
A Truly Addictive CD
The Addictions’ songs are so catchy; it is easy to get hooked on to the album. Flynsolo therefore dedicated the entire Addictions album to people recovering from any type of addiction. “Everyone owns some sort of addiction,” says David Knight.
Strong Production Team
Michael Harmon and David Knight are producing the Addictions album, supported by the famous record producer, Beau Hill, for the remainder of the album. Recording sessions took place in eight recording studios, spanning the United States, Canada, and Europe. The distinct sound of Addictions is the result of myriad collaborations with artists all over the world.
The Power Behind Flynsolo
Several songwriters have contributed to this amazing album. Keyboardist and bassist Jon Connor was recruited after working with David Knight on a previous project, along with Tony Rogers, orchestral director, who directed live orchestral sessions for the Flynsolo project.
All-Star Roster of Guest Appearances
In addition, you can expect guest appearances by some of the most well-respected and prolific musicians in the music industry. To name a few:
Liberty DeVitto wrote elaborate drum parts for the entire Addictions album. DeVitto is best known as the drummer who Billy Joel chose to work with for more than thirty years. In addition, DeVitto worked with artists, such as Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Elton John, Meat Loaf, Chuck Berry, John Waite, Mick Jones, Carley Simon, Roger Daltrey, Stevie Nicks, Cyndi Lauper, and The Carpenters.
George Marinelli plays the guitar in most of the Addictions tracks. George is a leading Nashville session player who used to play guitar with Bruce Hornsby and the Range. He is also well-known for his work with blueswoman Bonnie Raitt, a nine-time Grammy winner. In addition, he performed and recorded with artists, like Peter Cetera, Dixie Chicks, James Taylor, Willie Nelson, Billy and the Beaters, Faith Hill, Vince Gill, Donna Summer, Reba Mcentiire, and Dolly Parton.
Dr. Mike Deasy, one of the most recorded guitarists in the history of music, presents unique lyrics and melodies on the Addictions album. Deasy’s guitar play can be heard on many hit albums from the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and beyond. He worked with artists, such as George Harrison, Elvis Presley, Joe Cocker, Elton John, Ringo Star, The Byrds, Little Richard, Kenny Rogers, Cher, Diana Ross, The Beach Boys, Dianne Warwick, Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Frank Sinatra, Barbara Streisand, and Simon and Garfunkle.
Jay Davidson plays sax, piano, and leslie organ in several Addictions tracks. Jays credits include his work with Whitney Houston, Steve Winwood, Amy Grant, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, The Funk Brothers, and Mariah Carey.
Lakieta Bagwell recorded a duet with David Knight for the Addictions album. Bagwell is one of Nashville’s finest musicians and best known for her work with Dolly Parton.
Rick May is a well-known session player and has worked with many artists including Depeche Mode, Andy Summers (The Police), and Michael Jackson. Other well-known artists who contributed to the Addictions album are: Rafael (best known for his work with Peter Gabriel), Gerald Veasley (best known for his work with Grover Washington Jr., Miles Davis and Philip Bailey), Grace Little (best known for her work with Philadelphia International Records), and Freddy Villano (best known for his work with Widowmaker and Quiet Riot).
How the Story Began
Flynsolo developed from the remnants of a previous incarnation Forcrynoutloud, formed in 1998. In their self-titled debut, the band quickly established a trademark sound and added covers of songs by the Beatles, John Lennon, and the Youngbloods. In March 2002, founding member David Knight decided to record a follow-up effort, bringing studio musicians together with a fresh approach and a new name: Flynsolo was taking shape.
