About Me

Okay, I'll apologize now for the wierdness ...
I'm a bit of a rennaissance man... I'm part spiritualist, part poet, writer, gamer and otaku (among other things). I'm one of those that have had a wealth of experiences in various areas (Jack of all trades yet master of none for the most part).
I've had encounters with the other side of the curtain and tapped into the stream of the universal consciousness for the briefest of moments. I've got a personal belief in a higher power, be it named God, Jesus, The Force, or whatever other names can be (or have been) applied.
I'm also a person that likes ... almost craves, new experiences; I've been bungee jumping (if any of the witnesses to the event are reading this, cue the Pantera!), crossed the gender lines in my wardrobe (and have pictures to prove it)and met a number of remarkable people.
Although I've made mistakes in my life (a little bit of self-destruction on occasion among other bad decisions) I've learned to accept myself and learned from them, and hopefully I've been improved by the experiences.
With the 'crossing gender lines' remark I admit to being transgendered (which encompases Cross-dressers, Transvestites and Transsexuals ... I identify with the crossdresser portion of that grouping). My personal belief is that everybody has a male and female side to them, each expressed in different ways. My way of expressing the female side to my being is by occasionally putting on clothes designed to broadcast femininity.
While I don't want to have surgery, I do want to (and frequently fantasize about) experience life as a female (meaning somehow being transformed genetically, phyiologically as well as biologically into a woman), dealing with everything women today have to contend with (from menstruation to pregnancy to all the various rituals women go through in everyday life).
I, like typical men, like women & have a girlfriend (now my wife) ... so IF my fantasy somehow became reality I'd probably become a lesbian if my personality remained intact.
I've also published some short fictional stories online under a pseudonym years ago (the website for any interedted parties is www.fictionmania.com ... it's been around for years, but it's an adult site, so 18+ please).
Since I also mentioned poetry earlier, here's a sample of the poetry I've written over the years ...
Deja Vu
I've seen this all before.
my mind recognizes these sensations ...
even to the awareness of today's date.
I've lived this day before
all inside my head.
I've heard this all before.
The words you say pull a trigger in my head.
Your entire conversation is understood instantly.
I've spoken these words before
all inside my mind.
I've driven this road before.
The conditions set my mind to racing...
I easily avoid what might have been a crash.
I've seen these events before
all inside my mind.
Will I continue to see things in my mind?
I wish I can say yes, but only God knows for sure.

I actually have the Tarot Deck the following quiz artwork came from (the Dragon Tarot). There's beautiful artwork throughout this deck.

You are The High Priestess

Science, Wisdom, Knowledge, Education.

The High Priestess is the card of knowledge, instinctual, supernatural, secret knowledge. She holds scrolls of arcane information that she might, or might not reveal to you. The moon crown on her head as well as the crescent by her foot indicates her willingness to illuminate what you otherwise might not see, reveal the secrets you need to know. The High Priestess is also associated with the moon however and can also indicate change or fluxuation, particularily when it comes to your moods.

I'd like to meet:

I'd like to meet people, period.Okay, I'd like to meet people that I'd be able to call friend. Who that is ... that's a good question. I try to judge people on an individual basis as far as if they're "friendship material." I try not to be judgemental when it comes to meeting people, and I'll apologize now if I come across otherwise.

When I look at people, I try to see what I can of their soul. People, if they know it or not, put their own energy into creating their pages, even if a minimal amount. I try to pick up on that energy and if I feel it's good, I'd want to say yes to any friendship request (or send one of my own).

In the meantime I wouldn't mind rubbing elbows with the people on my friends list that I've ONLY met online.

Music:

Yes, I like music (I have a jukebox going in my head almost all the time I'm awake, which can get annoying at times).
My favorite artists are (in no particular order:
The Beatles (both as a group and as individual performers)
Jim Croce (Bad, Bad Leroy Brown ... Operator ... Time in a Bottle)
Harry Chapin (Cat's in the Cradle ... Taxi ... 30,000 pounds of Bananas ... W.O.L.D.)
Billy Joel (Piano Man ... Only The Good Die Young ... The Stranger ... My Life ... Easy Money ... Keeping the Faith ... Shameless [I also like the Garth Brooks version] ... Leningrad ... River of Dreams)
Pat Benatar (We Belong [this song has a special meaning with me & my wife as it was the theme song for her senior prom, our first date] ... Hit Me With Your Best Shot)
Heart (Baracuda ... Magic Man ... Alone)
Starship (or whatever name they were recording under through the years).
Stevie Ray Vaughn (The Sky Is Crying ... Texas Flood ... Cold Shot)

Favorite Genres: Classic Rock, 70's & 80's pop. To be honest though I haven't found any particular genre of music I outright dislike (individual artists maybe, but that's more personal preference)

Movies:

Okay ... here I show my geekiness...
My favorite movies are typical among the Sci-Fi crowd for the most part.
The original Star Wars Triolgy ('A New Hope', 'The Empire Strikes Back' and 'Return of the Jedi') is at the top of my favorites list, although I like the entire series of movies.
how jedi are you? :: by lawrie malen
Next is the Lord of the Rings set ('The Fellowship of the Ring', 'The Two Towers' and 'The Return of the King'), then Dune (The original with Patrick Stewart as Gurney Halleck) and Blade Runner round out the top of the list.
I also have a thing for adaptations of Comics (Batman, Spiderman, X-men, Fantastic Four, Hellboy, The Hulk, Daredevil and the Punisher are among my picks so far).
Having grown up in Chicago I have a few 'home-grown' favorites. Yes, 'The Blues Brothers' and 'Ferris Beuler's Day Off' are on there, as well as 'The Breakfast Club', 'The Fugitive', 'High Fidelity' and 'I, Robot.' Anyway, I could go on and on, but I think I've proven my geekiness enough.

Television:

The Small Screen...
The Idiot Box...
The Boob Tube...

Aside from Star Trek (and its various and plentiful spin-offs), I pretty much watch the Spike, Sci-Fi channel and the big networks on a regular basis ... Star Trek on Spike & Sci-Fi Channel; Doctor Who, Eureka and Battlestar Galactica on Sci-Fi; Heroes, CSI, ER and the Ghost Whisperer from the networks.

Books:

Obviously LOTR is on the list.
I'm also a fan of R.A. Salvatore (with the Dark Elf series of books).
Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman (for the Dragonlance books).
Jack Chalker (Most notably for the Dancing Gods series, but I liked "Downtiming the Nightside" as well).
Frank Herbert's "Dune" series.
Piers Anthony's "Incarnations of Immortality" series.
The last novel series I've liked was J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter" books.
One book that isn't sci-fi/fantasy related that I can read over and over is Shogun ... Thank you James Clavell!!
As an aside, I also have a modest collection of comics(about 1,800 issues, mostly Marvel titles, but some others are sprinkled in the mix).

Heroes:

Heroes??? Isn't that the program on NBC??
If I could say I had anyone to look up to I'd nominate Spider Man ("With great power comes great responsibility").
I also can probably count John Lennon for his eternal philosophical optimism ("Imagine all the people, sharing all the world...")

Which Endless are you?
Dream, the third of The Endless, you are in charge of the Dreaming, all imagination and creativity, everyone knows your beautiful realm, but none truly understand it. You are dark and brooding, creative, and spend a lot of time by yourself, just thinking. You are almost as serious as Destiny, but not quite. Everyone is enchanted by you, but you keep them all at a distance, even when you shouldn't.
