About Me

I have always loved art, music and writing... although it has taken me many years to do something about it. As with everyone.. things get in the way! So now I am finally enjoying teaching myself to paint, and I also have a novel that is stuck on page 120. Page 240 is doing fine.. it's just the bits inbetween :)
I was lucky to grow up in New Zealand, and have travelled extensively over both Islands and so was able to visit (several times) Australia, Fiji, Rarotonga, UK, USA, and The Bahamas. I would love to go to South America and Europe in the not too distant future.
I love to learn new things, but with the attention span of a gnat, I tend to have many fingers in many pies, which results in nothing ever being perfected. As they say, jack of all trades, master of none! Although I must say, that I have stuck to my painting..so thats a bonus.

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

People who really want to meet other people. We may not have everything in common, but we may have parts of ourselves that we can share apart from music, art, literature etc. We can be miles away, never meet in person, but we can at least get to know a little about each other here.
I am not into being a numbered 'fan' or 'friend'... maybe if I was still 12 years old I might find that exciting, but lets face it, I am 43.. my time and my dollars are just as precious as yours. Quality not quantity!!
As to who I would like to meet. I think I would like to go back into the past and sit back and watch the masters at work not only in painting, but in music too. That would be bliss!.
And last but certainly not least...

Ann Sheridan - a la Sally

Ok, I think I have purged my need to sketch this week!  Promise - no more unknown, or little remembered actresses - for a little while at least. This one didn't photograph too well, but I am bein...

Hedy Lamarr - a la Sally

Hedy who? I hear you say!  Just another long gone 'Screen Goddess'. The background on this one is actually a powder blue, but the sketch looks better this way. She looks a bit more stern than I w...

Audrey Hepburn - a la Sally

I found this old book at the library sale - "Screen Goddesses" - obviously printed a long time ago as the photographs are not the best quality.  However, I decided to have a go at sketching Audre...

Sultry Sax !

Well, after hours of mucking about for what is really quite a small painting, I decided to call this done! I could spend hours fiddling to get the details perfect, but the shot I used as a reference w...

The Trumpet - such an original title! NOT!

Well this is what I am now calling finished.  I could keep tweaking and changing it for days and still not be happy, so I take to heart something someone once said to me about being a "LEO" !&nbs...

A rewarding Saturday with a Raccoon...

Do people who hit "something" while driving down the road ever think about exactly what it was they hit?  Do they simply keep on driving and say.. well I hit something, but I didn't see it. ...

March is "Magic" Month

Well after reading through the "Personal Beauty and Charm" book I picked up at the thrift store yesterday, I decided to read a bit of the "Beauty" section. Back in 1952, they obviously didn't have all...
