THE GOD CODE
..I started playing guitar at the ripe old age of 17. I literally started on a two string, learning how to play Neil Young solos. When I finally bought a "real" guitar, I realized that I had a knack for playing purely by ear. Of course that guitar was a piece of crap too. Then I heard this guy Al Dimeola. Changed Everything!! I saw that my playing was sloppy. "Sorry Neil, Love Ya". So I went on a mission; that I'm still on today. I fell for that latin beat. I had little formal training, except for a couple of semesters under Jim Patchett. "Where the hell are you Jim?" An exceptional musician. From Jim I became more precise and proficient, literally playing twice the speed with half the effort.
From there, I've been Playing everything I can. Not so much blues though.
I don't know why; it never really moved me enough. Stormy Monday and similar 12 bar blues is fun to wail on I admit, But there is more in 12 bar. Enough shop talk. I try to let the music do most of the talking. I have written a few songs with lyrics but I end up tuning the guitar in some odd BADBAD alternate form; It's not practical on stage, unless you bring an arsenal of axes.
To me, music is the gathering of mind and spirit with physics. There is nothing more enjoyable than to play music with others..... Well..there are a few other things..... Yea, well.At present I'm in limbo; just learning new songs, and trying to write more.
I am not going to give you a resume of who, what or where I played. I've done a few things. I may start teaching.... Again. If I get enough students. Otherwise; West maybe. If anyone wants a tip on a song they want to learn; ..some of the sites are really bad ' Leave me a note. I will get back to you.I want to thank all of you for listening. You know who you are.
