Hate Is Easy, Love Takes Courage!

About Me

Layout by:
Originally formed in January 1997 by guitarists Rich Egan & Guy Cooper and drummer Craig Mapstone from their previous band, Dayer went on to become a popular, and dangerous live act. Their reputation quickly secured them headline shows in Camden, London, the Cardiff Barfly, Newport's famous TJ's and numerous bill topping shows for Dragon's Lair Promotions around the country. Co-Headline shows with Mclusky & Squeezebox and support slots with Rachel Stamp, Sony record's Halo, The Cube and Snowpony (ex My Bloody Valentine + Echobelly) were just some of the high profile shows that the band played.
Dayer visited recording studios on four occasions. The recording sessions produced the independently released "The Rehab EP" and their 6 track mini album "Urban Gorillas" (see "Sounds Like" section for reviews and artwork)
In the summer of 2002, after 5 years of touring, recording and parties, the band ground to sudden and unexpected halt.
Summer 2006 saw the return of Dayer.
Richard Oakes ( ex pilotfish ), joined Guy & Rich, to fill the vacant bassist role.
Soon after, original Dayer drummer, Craig Mapstone rejoined the band he left 8 years before, to finalise the new look Dayer.
The band locked themselves away to write new material and rehearse the existing songs. After a few months, Dayer emerged from their own shadow!
After a low key appearance in TJ's, a series of 3 headline shows were played in and around the band's hometown to announce their return. Packed venues, coupled with an renewed energy and passion alerted promoters and event organisers to Dayer's return to action!
Offers flooded in, and the band selected a hand full of weekend show over the summer to perfect the sound and line up, with view to playing further a field.
As well as gig, offers, Dayer were offered the chance to have their music appear on the soundtrack for a new, independent film "Dead Animals", and gave their first magazine interview for the Detroit based MUEN Magazine.
At the end of "The Summer Blissed" comeback tour, it had become clear that things weren't going to work out with Rich O.
At this point, Mike Day ( ex Echomind ) joined the band, replacing Rich O. Mike came with a huge wealth of experience, and a real enthusiasm for the material the band had produced.
Dayer finally had the line up they had been searching for!
Plans are being made for a follow up string of shows to introduce Mike to the fans, and also new recording sessions, with a view to releasing their first EP since 2000.
REFRESHED, REFOCUSED, REFORMED! Their Time Is Now!
