7.29.08 - 12:30 AM …. Tuesday morning, rolling outta Edinburgh Scotland, and I’m 25 kilometers from St. Andrews in a bus …. and that’s the only bummer I have? I’d better not tell Kenny where we are, or he would certainly jump ship right here on this highway … We just finished 2 one hour sets that just tore it up at queens hall, after doing the craziest travel of the whole tour … starting with a 19 hour drive from Nurnburg Germany, to Limply Stoke, a cute little town outside of Bath England where we did have the last night off, and a grand night it was at a hotel built in the 1800’s, a quaint old beauty that had more than one of our party claiming to have seen a ghost … no worries though as we spent most of the evening down at the pub for a great meal and a few pints … but the next day we started a 5 day run that took us from the Trowbridge festival to Cologne Germany and back to the Womad festival (which by the way is under 50 miles from Trowbridge, then overnight to Edinburgh where I am now heading to Inverness Scotland …. and I’m this close to St. Andrews and it’s in the middle of the night … those of you that know me know of my golf jones and the agony I feel right now … but the saving grace is the shows have been killer, really killer, especially both of the festivals we played in England, Trowbridge was a festival that celebrates traditional English music, and a couple of the bands that played were just incredible, Michael McGoldrick, from Manchester, had a band that played Celtic style, and then a group called Show of Hands, a trio that were true English troubadours, in fact one of the members Phil Beers actually joined us on stage playing fiddle on willin’, long black veil and the weight … then the Womad festival which is a World music festival that had a lot of groups from Africa, and we had a very large crowd there as we opened up on the big stage for the final Sunday of the festival, just a great day, that we almost missed, but I’ll leave that story for later … 3:30 and we have just pulled into Inverness, what they call the Highlands here in Scotland, so its off to bed since it’s the first one I’ve seen before dawn in the last 5 days, and I find that sleeping in a hotel is really preferable to a rolling bus, and it’ll be the only chance I get as after the show tonight we travel back to Edinburgh airport and fly off to Norway for a couple of shows … we will wrap this puppy up Friday night in Norway, and then start the long trek home …. looking forward to being home for a minute … so you see now that the glamorous part of the rock and roll is that in the span of 4 days you could spend 52 hours on a bus, cross the English channel 3 times have a hotel room for 2 hours, and do 4 completely different shows ….. and everything’s cool ……!!!stay tuned as i will soon be posting the paul & fred tour dates for november-december over here in the UK and Spain ... cheers ...
