About Me

MySpace pages have a real strong show and tell element to them and that’s also true of mine. But my page is truly for an audience of one…me. I replicate my life’s journey on this page…the snippets of the whole experience I wish I’d had and the one I had (and continue to have). Seems idyllic on the surface and a lot of it was although a lot wasn't. The things I’m concerned with are universal things, longing for a loving relationship; love for my family; wanting a meaningful life; wanting peace in this world. I truly feel if there were no homeless or abused animals anywhere, no starving and abused children, no lonely old people…this would be a world we wouldn’t recognize. It would change everything. Never underestimate what one person can do. I do not always answer messages. The investment of my time, energy & focus during my time online is generally spent adding photos, music and the occasional blog in an attempt to take my scattered old memories and recent experiences and try to pull them together in a way that says something and allow the viewer to make up his or her own mind. On the occasions that I come to look at my own page, it’s with a light, happy heart but also a heavy one as I relive my past through my photos and the music I’ve chosen for the moment. "Trust, responsibility, taking the weight for your choices and feelings, and spending the rest of your life living up to them. And above all, not hurting the object of your love." ~William Parrish. "They say always, 'That is the past, that is over.' But that is not true. The past is always with you, in your whole life and we can learn from the past." ~Miep Gies. MySpace pages are very personal and I find it fascinating that we are allowed a glimpse into a stranger’s life. I love to laugh and love anyone who makes me laugh. Two of the funniest people I know happen to be my two daughters, Stacy and Amber. I’m very proud of both of them and also I enjoy being around them as people. I have a new granddaughter, Natalie who was born 5 weeks early on August 27, 2007. She is making up for lost time and is growing so fast! She's my first grandchild. I’m a certified Bodypump Instructor and I was born and raised in Front Royal, Virginia, in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley.

Please ignore the "More" and "Join My Fan List" for the slide shows. I'm not interested in anybody rating my slide shows...it's simply an encrypted code that I've tried to remove and failed.

Amber's Wedding Day January 27, 2007

My first grandchild, Natalie, was born August 27, 2007. My daughter Amber had an emergency C-section on that day & delivered her baby between 5 & 6 weeks early. Natalie remained in the hospital for 10 days with her mom & dad with her every moment. After a rough start but in the very capable hands of the wonderful staff at Northside Cherokee Hospital, she is now home happy & healthy. Amber was a trouper & she looked beautiful & strong from the moment she came out of delivery.

My Interests

My two girls, always and forever. They are the loves of my life. I like to read; gardening (as in flowers); working out (especially since I now get paid to do it, although it's not much); sleeping; watching t.v.; going to the movies - this is something I really love to do; photography; eating (particularly sweets); I want to say traveling as I do like to see new places except I'm not a great traveler; my cats, Tilly, Notcher, & Tiffy. My daughter Stacy has transported the rest down to the Florida Keys. Wanna meet them? Just click here to meet the Cather Cats.

I'd like to meet:

(and to have had sex with Elvis!) Elvis Presley. Willa Cather. Robbie Williams.

Robbie Williams Concert, London, September 19, 2006

My daughter, Amber, flew me to London to go with her to Robbie's final London concert on September 19. Amber shot this video with her digital camera and you can see how close we were. Not bad considering there were 90,000 people there! That's Amber you can hear singing along. He was phenomenal!

Music:

I hate bluegrass, except some Emmylou Harris and I dislike most (but not all) country music. Other than that, this list could be endless. Who doesn't love music?

Movies:

What About Bob?; Broken Flowers; Just Friends; Dumb and Dumber; Along Came Polly; Meet Joe Black; Silence of the Lambs (I'm in LOVE with Anthony Hopkins); Ace Ventura; Austin Powers; Wedding Crashers; Napoleon Dynamite; Talledega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby; Sideways; American Splendor; Finding Nemo; Mighty Aphrodite; Anchorman, The Legend of Ron Burgundy; Zoolander; Swingers; Cable Guy; Shaun of the Dead; Office Space; Overboard; Duane Incarnate (my daughter Amber is in it...she plays the role of Sheena); The Woman in Red; Clifford; Tootsie; Little Miss Sunshine; Honeymoon in Vegas; The Weather Man; A Few Good Men; My Cousin Vinny; Green Card; To Kill a Mockingbird; Vampire's Kiss; Kalifornia; Beerfest; Harold and Maude; Rosemary's Baby; Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?; Anger Management; About Schmidt; Tommy Boy; Wolf Creek; Rear Window; Grizzly Man (A documentary on Timothy Treadwell); The Haunting (ONLY the original); Texas Chainsaw Massacre (ONLY the original); Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. I love documentaries - Netflix rules. Anyway, this list could also be endless.

Television:

The Office!

Books:

Anything by David Sedaris....he cracks me up; anything by Bill Bryson; Genie: A Scientific Tragedy by Russ Rymer (a hard read but worth it); Into the Wild by John Krakauer; and I love Biographies. I especially love a series of books written by a "Ted L. Nancy" (a pseudonym used by probably Larry David but this is a guess) called Letters From a Nut, More Letters From a Nut, etc. These books make me laugh so hard I can't even breathe. Running With Scissors by Augusten Burroughs; High Maintenance by Jennifer Belle...this is probably my favorite book of all, so clever and laugh out loud funny (I picked it up at the airport while waiting for a flight and was laughing so hard people were starting to stare); New favorite book as I just finished reading it (08/08/07) is Little Stalker by Jennifer Belle. I've waited forever for her newest book and it didn't disappoint. Another laugh out loud gem by this amazing woman!; Final Truth: The Autobiography of a Serial Killer by Donald "Pee Wee" Gaskins and Wilton Earle; Fatal Vision by Joe McGinness; Cannibal by Lois Jones; Pet Sematary by Stephen King; I went through a period where I read a lot of true crime so if there was one out there, I more than likely read it. My favorite book as a child was The Littlest Mermaid by Hans Christian Anderson. My second favorite (as a much younger child) was Father Bear Comes Home by Else Holmelund Minarik and Maurice Sendak. My daughter Stacy had heard me talk about the little book Father Bear Comes Home and how much I loved it when I was little and she found it and gave it to me for Christmas. It was so sweet. I still have The Littlest Mermaid book from my childhood. It has the most beautiful illustrations in it.

Heroes:

Anyone who does anything to help animals. Whether it's large scale or a simple act of feeding a stray, giving a home to one, or trying to find a home for all the tossed away and forgotten about.
