About Me

Delilah Squid© is where I stretch my artistic tentacles.
"Born to Hula" by Queens of the Stone Age is my theme song.

I have a natural aversion to clicking on the "submit" button.

Snark and Sass are traits of mine that I show just because I care.

My Interests

As of this writing, my interests are as follows: FrankenPhotography©, eating cold cherries and/or watermelon in the hothot sun and seeing how far I can spit the pits; throwing stones into water; projectiles and trajectory; those precious peoples; gems (human & mineral); raw garlic; close talking; Pina Coladas; postcards (in my mailbox, and other people's); fruit and vegetable pornography and personification; roller-fucking-derby; watching and listening to bands play live music; making my own music (I play bass, guitar, and Garageband *sigh*); collage; cryptic nonsense; Diane Arbus; honesty; tinkering; potential lottery winnings; Boggle; eyes; grammatical correctness; midnight missions to kava bars; photography; Furries; plotting artistic things to do with my lack of spare time; plotting, in general; making hard-boiled eggs without a timer and hoping for fate to intervene; enchantment; The Muppets; mermaids; water and all things aqueous; beaches. and the laying on of them; big buttons; Pictionary; one-liners; mermaid activities; painting; meeting some people who aren't all jacked up on being assy; ASCII; discovery shopping; MarioPaint for Super NES; Canons and Polaroids; giggling with friends and family members about ridiculous things; beauty; mischief; elves; Mexican fud; the destruction of time; Brian Froud; peach flavoured iced tea; actual colours; viewing things from an unconventional perspective; shiny silver buckles; the serenity and inspiration of being totally, quietly, surrounded by nature; Lily Ponzu; quirky conversation; metal tennis; details; Nell Shipman; sugar; tactile sensations; collage; Scrabble; books; finding ways to subvert the status quo; Photoshop; asymmetry; making old people and children laugh; art; dragonflies; weekends; Pingu; fairies; mail; heat & warmth; discovering things I didn't know existed; the smell of cedar/freshly cut grass/fruits; discussing, heatedly, topics of little significance, et cetera.

I'd like to meet:

Betsey Johnson, Jim Henson, Diane Arbus, Cameron Phillips, Cindy Sherman, the person who invented cheese, and anyone else who is authentically quirky.

Music:

Sometimes I like music. When I do like music, sometimes it is klezmer music, or Clutch, or The Melvins, or Opeth, or Queens of the Stone Age, or Amy Winehouse, or Electric Mayhem, or Wolfmother, or Zen Guerrilla, or The New Pornographers, or Spiderbait, or Delilah Squid, or Big Business, or The Want, or Esthero, or Portishead, or Franz Ferdinand, or Cathedral, or Bjork, or Melanie Safka, or Run Like Hell, or Ten Miles Wide, or Helmet, or Fu Manchu, or Deep Purple, or Frank Zappa, or R.L. Burnside, or UFO, or Elevator (To/Thru Hell), or Acorn Hell, or The Yeah Yeah Yeah-s, or David Bowie, or Nice Cat, or Spinal Tap, or Ween, or Sia, or Tricky Woo, or Ani Difranco, or Bionic, or Peaches, or Corrosion of Conformity, or The Pixies, or Stompin' Tom Connors, or Meatlocker Seven, or Black Sabbath, or Devy, or Soul Coughing, or The Evaporators, or Kyuss, or L7, or Fatso Jetson, or Strapping Young Lad, or Entombed, or Budgie, or Tenacious D, or Sloburn, or Gabby La La, or Van Halen (pre-Sammy), or Radiohead, or Led Zeppelin, or Unida, or The Beatles, or Fiona Apple, or The Eagles of Death Metal, or Motown, or Funk, or Seventies Rock, or any number of others.I will have to add to this list periodically.

Movies:

The fact that it is gross and wet outside makes me want to watch movies. I find it amusing that Canadian indie films are put into the "Foreign Films" section here. In Canada.

Television:

I had a trial bout of cablevision for six months, and it was apparent after a couple weeks that I like weird reality shows, such as "Wife Swap." I think I got the wrong idea about that show though, and I didn't have a remote.

Books:

I like trade paperbacks with matte covers. That is what you call, "Judging a book by its cover," and don't even try to tell me that you don't do that. Why else are you here?
Non-fiction is entertaining because it happened somewhere, sometime.
Some authors I have previously enjoyed are: Will Self, Hector Hugh Munro, Norton Juster, Thomas King, Edward Gorey, Chuck Klosterman, Douglas Adams, Naomi Wolf, Beverly Cleary, Lori Lansens (thanks El Jefe!), Uncle John (of Bathroom Reader's fame), Nick Bantock, Gabrielle Roy, Cameron Tuttle, The Morbid Margarets (of Upper Canada), George Orwell, Tom Robbins, Katherine Dunn, John Wyndham, Alice Munro, Will Ferguson, Anais Nin, Hunter S. Thompson, Lisa Moore, Kurt Vonnegut Jr., and Theodore Geisel.

Heroes:

No heroes, thanks. Just dear, and awe-inspiring friends & fambly.
