"Blue Angel is an amazingly sensitive and surprisingly artistic approach to the topic of sexual abuse. The narration's subtle, rhythmic poetry slowly builds emotional suspense against a quiet visual landscape, recalling the "calm before the storm" sensibility of films like Brick and Virgin Suicides. Andrew's characters are more than stereotypes, and his vision is more than imitation."

"Filmmaker Andrew Michael Warnecke lays a gentle, but not shy, hand upon daring subject matter in his upcoming film, "Blue Angel." Like a butterfly's
wing on our cheek, one feels the small things -- things we pass over
without thinking, things we want to skim without examining -- while just
out of range we sense a very real impact building. It is true without
slapping you with truth, and starkly honest without stealing all hope.
For personal reasons, I am honored to be making music for "Blue Angel."
It is a film that resonates for me, as it will for many women...too many
women."

"Blue Angel" is a short film directed by Andrew Michael Warnecke and based on a short story by Christine Bollerud. It is a disturbing, yet intimate and moving portrait of a girl (Jenafer Brown) confronted with her classmate's (Aika Shima) confession of sexual abuse in the home. The film does not judge, it simply presents. The film was produced by Susan Funk and Andrew Michael Warnecke under their production company, Guestroom Productions.
