About Me
I created my own profile using nUCLEArcENTURy.COM and you should too!As you may or may not already know, I am the lead singer of the crunk-rock original band, RAGING GEISHA . But most of you have not become acquanted with my other project, THE ERICA-SOMMER SOLO PROJECT. RAGING GEISHA is my Ying and my solo project is my Yang. I love and embrace each project equally, but they are two completely different sides of myself.I started my first original band in 1996 under the name E-S-P [the erica sommer project] while studying at the University of Miami. But long before I ever started a band, I was into music! Back in my hometown, Marietta, the immediate suberbs of Atlanta, GA, I started singing at the age of 4, won my first talent show at the age of 9 and began writing songs at the age of 11 using my self-taught skills on the piano, which later I would study in college. I always loved music, but it wasn’t until I formed my band that I even entertained the idea of doing music as my profession. So finally, I am posting the first of much to come from my solo project. I am very interested in collaborating with different musicians, producers, arrangers, and even dj’s... so if you like what you hear and you think you have something to take it to the next level... let me know, because you NEVER KNOW!So I invite you to listen to a few songs from some of my live shows (THANK YOU JOE WILLIAMS for the recording!) here at the space of THE ERICA-SOMMER SOLO PROJECT... Perhaps they are not perfection, but they are REAL!
TO HEAR MORE LIVE CLIPS OF MY MUSIC, VISIT:ERICA-SOMMER Live SessionsOFFICIAL BIO:Delivering sweet, sultry songs of life, love, and heartache, this multi-ethnic beauty of style and grace, ERICA-SOMMER will not only mesmerize your eyes; she will romance your ears and transcend your imagination...Personally opening the window to her soul and the doorway to her past, ERICA-SOMMER willingly shares her personal experiences, observations, trials, and tribulations through her beautiful melodies, picturesque lyrics, self-accompanied by her modestly, sincere chords on piano.Born and raised in Atlanta, GA, ERICA-SOMMER spent a lifetime surrounded by music, art, dance, and the loving support of her parents. ERICA-SOMMER’s father was an accomplished jazz musician, fashion designer, interior designer, and visual artist. ERICA-SOMMER’s mother gave up her career in art upon ERICA-SOMMER’s birth, but she always encouraged ERICA-SOMMER to grow and pursue her interests in music, dance, art, as well as her academics. Constantly throwing mini-performances for family and friends since the age of 4, it was obvious that ERICA-SOMMER was another artist to the family. Throughout her adolescent life, ERICA-SOMMER sang in several choirs, musicals, talent competitions, political events, and more. ERICA-SOMMER began to formally train as a classical vocalist at the age of 11. At the age of 13, ERICA-SOMMER was accepted into the Performing Arts Conservatory of Pebblebrook High School where she continued singing and writing, but she knew Georgia was not enough, and looked to spread her wings upon graduating.ERICA-SOMMER left Georgia at the age of 17, making Miami, FL her new home. She continued to study music at the University of Miami, but her true calling did not become clear to her until her 2nd year at U of M. ERICA-SOMMER finally began to share the songs that she had been writing since the age of 11. She actively decided to form rock band, E-S-P after considerable encouragement from her peers. E-S-P has continued to gain momentum in the South Florida music scene, as well as dedicated listeners in various cities, including New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and even Mexico City, but ERICA-SOMMER knew that she was only expressing one side of her artistry. While taking a little hiatus from the band, ERICA-SOMMER began to explore her new and old material and began to shape her solo project. Immediately, venues from all over South Florida began to book ERICA-SOMMER’s solo act. Gracefully and quietly taking the stage, with her medium-sized Yamaha keyboard, her customary polka-dotted stool, and microphone, ERICA-SOMMER fills the audiences’ heads with all kinds of interesting thoughts. Once she opens her mouth and begins to sing these heart-felt, sincere songs, with a crystal clear, yet amazingly strong voice, everything becomes clear to the audience. ERICA-SOMMER is finally home when she lays her small delicate fingers on her friendly keyboard, closes her eyes, and shares her secrets of life, love, and heartache…
Let ERICA-SOMMER in to your heart, and you will surely fall in love...
REVIEW BY BLACK OWL MUSIC:Erica-Sommer: Back To The Heart
There’s only one way artists grow to become legends, and it’s by
drenching the words they sing with feeling (think Gladys Knight,
Roberta Flack). Erica Sommer is well on her way to sharing a
category with them. Erica Sommers’ music radiates not just old-soul
maturity, the kind Erica fans say makes her a modern rarity, but real
soul. Vintage-leaning hooks hold on "Can’t Breathe" and an
assortment of other songs, but Sommers can also get by just fine
without them, as she proves on more soul-flavored numbers like
"Can’t Stop," and "Drawn To You." The genres may be smearing, she
seems to say, but bring them on: she won’t shrink back. Her
commitment is not to a single style but to what’s stirring her soul.
Because of it, she’s moving Acoustic and Neo-soul, or something like
it, from the hips back to the heart.
