Carlos Hernan Gonzalez is without a doubt one of the most talented young Peruvian composers/pianists of the recent years. Born in Lima, he discovered from a young age that music would not only become his passion but also his life. Once he finished school he decided to study Music Industry at the University of Miami, USA, because he knew that an artist of this generation must have a solid base as well as keep up to date in the latest musical and artistic tendencies.However, his thing was composing and playing live. And so, as he worked at the Public Relations Department of Sony Discos in Miami, he continued to develop his art, training himself in the piano and creating his style.“To me it’s very important to be up-to-date as a musician. This is, being open to the musical and artistic movements of nowadays and also fashion. That’s why I’d also like to start experimenting with electronic music. I love the piano because it’s an independent and versatile instrument that offers you immediate results. You don’t need an ensemble to play a piece, you just need to play it yourself and the piece comes alive. Each recital is unique†affirms Carlos Hernan.In spite of coming from a classical background, this young artist cannot be denied of other musical genres such as rock, pop and trip-hop. Among his favorite artists are Radiohead, ABBA, Kylie , The Jesus and Mary Chain, Serge Gainsbourg, Beth Gibbons and some of the classical composers who have influenced his career are Erik Satie, Débussy and Chopin. Therefore, a complete mix that makes his style very surprising.We could say he has become an icon of the New Classical Music because, together with his piano he sets free his imagination and transmits wherever he goes, life experiences, feelings and emotional states with no pretentiousness.Carlos Hernan Gonzalez has performed in several venues in Lima and also in Paris and in each of his recitals he has been able to grab ovations from the public that recognizes the perfect fusion of classical and modern.In 2004 he released a CD entitled “Marina Tremolo†entirely produced and recorded in Peru with his compositions.Nowadays, he lives in Paris where he has found true inspiration to develop his musical style. “Each day I discover new things, all that surrounds me pushes me to go forward in my search for new melodies and stronger sounds, becoming something that never ends."
