"Artists are messengers whose responsibility is to unite the world - a faith that will lead not to destruction but to transformation....." - REMEMBER THAT!True female vocalists are a rare commodity in the music industry nowadays. The cookie-cutter formulas used by many recording artists has resulted in a stale sounding R & B and Hip-Hop genre. Enter TrueHardCore Entertainment recording artist and singer/songwriter/MC; The Boss Lady Destinee of T.H.C. (The Hispanic Connection). This 80s baby is poised to take over the international music industry...
Destinee's approach to making music has always come from the heart and shes had a deep appreciation of urban music and culture since her early childhood. The fact that her mother was a very young woman when Destinee was born caused them to have more of a sister relationship than anything else. Her mother embedded her head with music from the disco of the 70s to the freestyle of the early 80s as well as salsa, meringue, bachata, reggae, and most importantly R & B. This would prove to be amongst her greatest inspirations.
Growing up in South Florida for the greater part of her childhood influenced Destinee to appreciate the music of Hip-Hop Culture, from bass music like 2 Live Crew to rap like Salt & Pepa, Heavy D., Nas, AZ, Jay-Z, Tupac, and Notorious B.I.G. She grew fond of her musical inspirations and became engulfed in crafting her own poems and songs. She listened to singers like Mary J. Blige, Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, and male vocalists like Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross, Nat King Cole, and Elvis Presley. She would even gain appreciation for rock & roll band like The Beatles, The Eagles, Led Zeppelin, and The Rolling Stones.
Her vast knowledge and love for music has helped her broaden her horizons creatively. She started off by working for Skywalker Records founder Luther Luke Campbell of 2 Live Crew fame in the mid 90s. She recorded R & B choruses and wrote full songs that would never see the light of day. Frustrated with here creative environment, she moved on with her career and linked up with Miami MC Lex, with whom she released an album and performed live shows.
Her persistence led her to host a BET event at Atlantis in the Bahamas alongside BET s Big Tigga. She also performed live at the event and received a great reaction from the crowd. She returned to Miami and was approached by TrueHardCore Entertainment head U.B. about becoming a member of his group, The THC Crew, or The Hispanic Connection. The two found a mutual bond in music and began working immediately. The pace and consistency with which she was recording at was surprisingly motivational for her and would prove to be the place she felt most comfortable in when creating her music.
Working with THC has garnered the Boss Lady Destinee a new audience, as she is now rapping as well as singing all of her own material. She writes, records, performs, and promotes herself as well as her group, THC, with relentless persistence like shes done everything in her life. She is truly a blessing and an asset to our organization in every way you can think of, says U.B., President of her current record label, TrueHardCore Entertainment.
Since joining forces with the THC movement, Destinee has performed for capacity-filled audiences across the country and overseas. From Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Bahamas, to Orlando, Alabama, New York, and her hometown of Miami, Florida, The Boss Lady has been blessed to travel around the world and perform for hundreds of thousands of people. The groups work ethic has resulted in a huge amount of media coverage including winning an Award from Ft. Lauderdale-based City Link Magazine for Best Latin Act of 2005. THC was also featured in the MTV My Block series mixtape which was distributed nation-wide at all Best Buys, FYEs, and Circuit City retail outlets.
