"Welcome To Today" Demo By: Gus Coronel -Gus Coronel roots his music in improvisation, inspired by moments and emotions. His music is often compared to bands such as Stained, R.E.M and Mazzy Star and musicians such as Tom Petty and Eddie Vedder. At the core of his sound, you could hear the influence and combined styles of John Lennon and Kurt Cobain, two very powerful yet different artists. His music has been described as fresh, evolving and sincere. It has been said that his lyrics set the ground work for his albums unfiltered response to his own life experiences.Late 2007 welcomed the release of Gus's Debut solo recordings, "Welcome to Today". The Result is a rich and soulful demo which brings fourth an earnest account of one man's quest to mend a broken heart. When asked to sum up the inspiration and vibe of the album, Gus said "...I wrote this music from the heart. All of the tracks were done freely in the studio within the spontaneous creative process: A moment, the music, we let it flow, pressed record, and played it loud."The album progresses much like the artist's own life experiences from the pain of his losses to the acceptances of his new life. "Of Love and Misery" is a paradoxical tale of self-discovery as the artist analyzes the possibility of true love co-existing with pure misery. "If you keep wondering" is the newest song and most empowering as it describes that all too hard step of finally "letting go†and accepting to create new opportunities for oneself. The essence of his message is found in the title track "Welcome to Today". Primarily, the song highlights the importance of living in the moment but it also reminds us to acknowledge that we only have the ability to control and change our futures. Finally, the end of the artist's struggles are realized in "I feel fine, Nothing can bring me down" where we see he has found freedom redemption and peace.Gus Coronel continues to write songs and has over 30 songs ready to record. His talent for writing songs has become a second nature as he continues moving forward with his style trying to tell the stories of the romantic lifestyle he lives. Residing in Miami, he is currently playing live around South Florida.
