About Me

FOR COMPLETE AND UP TO DATE INFORMATION ON CONCERT APPEARANCES
PLEASE VISIT:
Ellery Eskelin's Website
I began playing saxophone in 1969 at age 10, inspired by my mother Bobbie Lee , who played Hammond B3 organ with her own groups in Baltimore during the early 1960's. My father is the late Rodd Keith , cult hero to music collectors around the world for his work as a composer, keyboardist and vocalist in the little known field of song-poem music.
I live in Manhattan (since 1983) and tour internationally with my own ensembles and as a member of a variety of other groups, focusing on improvisational music. Most of my recordings are on the Swiss hatOLOGY label although I've just released a special double CD project called "QUIET MUSIC" on my own "prime source" label. It's AVAILABLE NOW! Please visit the prime source web site for complete information on the release and how to get a copy.

"Eskelin demonstrates his distinctive melange of flavors and intensities throughout, and the band exudes intelligence without borders...Besides being an impressive and expansive statement of what this unusual band is all about, Quiet Music also marks the throwing of Eskelin's hat into the expanding ring of artist-run labels, in this case his new company prime source."
