About Me

“Parkins, a master manipulator of electronically processed accordion and laptop is one of the city’s most unbounded …well, what’s the word for her? Musician seems too simple, artist too vague; perhaps 'sound-ist' is best.” –Time Out/NY Andrea Parkins -- composer, sound artist, performer and improvisor -- plays electronically- processed accordion, laptop electronics, piano and an assortment of synths. With her electronics-driven timberal explorations and dynamic use of generative sound processing, Andrea invents a sonic language that is both fractured and fluid -- releasing awkward electronic disruptions, intricate keyboard polyrhythms, concretized sampling and explosive feedback into the rising flow of her electric accordion's sonority.
