rich woodson's ellipsis

About Me

ellipsis has been brooklyn composer rich woodson's main compositional vehicle of his 'serious music' for about a decade now. the selections on myspace are from his most recent CD 'the nail that stands up gets pounded down' which is available at cdbaby.com for less than you'd expect. ellipsis' previous disc on cuneiform records 'control and resistance' was released in 2000 and is available at their website with sound samples. for additonal biographical information concerning ellipsis and its individual members go to richwoodson.comrich woodson also performs (sings, plays guitar, writes the music and words) in a pop group called lemonyellow which has a page here on myspace. brilliantly noted avant-jazz guitarist ben monder describes lemonyellow thusly: "It's got a refreshing innocence to it (is that a cliché?). Also, it's somewhat reminiscent of Shudder to Think in that it puts these eminently catchy phrases in strange contexts, so that one is simultaneously drawn in and disoriented. A nice effect." thanks ben.
