About Me

Concieved in the asphalt jungle of Harlem in New York City with a can of raid in hand, Uncle Carl's Psychotherapy is a rather unique non descriptive band that has got the whole world all junked up on a sugar rush.Founded in 1990 by Carl Freud, Great Grandson of famed Psychiatrist Sigmund Freud, Carl is better known as the genius behind the psychosis. Co-founding member and drummer, Jon Leon is the backbeat of the insanity and Bruce Casanova the funkadelic bassist is the hearthrob of the madness. After years of recording a few albums for Jungle Records and touring the world relentlessly the band basically fried themselves out and decided to take a hiatus. Their original guitarist Pierre La Rue who spent his vacation at Pilgrim State Psychiatric Hospital on Long Island soon followed with a mysterious death on April Fools Day 2001 inside the infamous Chelsea Hotel, where he had taken up residency with his non-kosher groupie girlfriend who would soon after vanish in to thin air like Houdini. More chaos followed when Carl's cats "Mothball" & "Dingbat" somehow got in to a bag of amphetamines that they must have thought were treats. Today, they sit proudly in his apartment thanks to a local taxidermist. As fate would have it in 2002, while Carl was walking his dog "Ritalin" near Central Park when he noticed an Ivory coast restaurant in Harlem. "I had this eerie feeling to go inside", said Carl. That's when he met Zimbabwe, African born Veronique DuToit. It was love at first sight. He would soon find out she's a singer and keyboardist and her son Lundry Abaji Du Toit is a famous guitarist in Africa. Carl's mind was going a zillion miles an hour as if he had ADHD about reforming the band but everyone had something else going on. It would take 2 years for them to all get together & do an impromptu gig at CBGB.Recording sessions for a new CD began in 2004 but Jungle Records were not impressed by Veronique's presence. With a constipation of ideas and a diarreah of the mouth, Jungle Records felt Veronique was very much like Yoko Ono so their new album got held up in the hands of Lawyers for months until they finally let the band out of their contract with an undisclosed amount of money which most of it went to pay the Lawyers and the prescription drugs. From all that craziness they formed their own record label "Subliminal Records". In 2007 their long awaited CD "If These Walls Could Talk" was finally released.Carl says, "Our new CD represents the nucleus of all the dysfunctional neuroticness that is deeply rooted within us. A World tour kicked off on December 31st, 2006 and was completed on Halloween 2007.A new double CD entitled "Bamboozled Doozies" is to be released in early 2008 and will follow with another World tour.

Sounds Like: An eclectic mix of afro- beat, funk, hard rock, jazz, punk, reggae, soul, swing, & tribal rolled in to one joint."We are not the statistic casualty of "The Where Are They Now?" bands who lost everything they made from the corporate record industry yuppies only to end up cleaning toilet boils in Grand Central Station. When those radio robots began to pigeon hole our music with psychobabble on the airwaves we took to the streets of New York City in protest. We live and breathe the punk rock attitude 24/7. Our devoted fans are the bosses and we just work here. You wanted sanity, you got insanity. Back by popular demand. The craziest band in the World..... UNCLE CARL'S PSYCHOTHERAPY.
