Like a painter with a vast array of colors on his canvas, James Hall spent his life learning to paint with soul-deep music and vivid imagery. From the classical training he received in his youth, to the Gospel, Jazz, pop and r&b that are all different shades and hues on his musical palette, James Hall and his 30 Voice Choir "Worship & Praise have created something unique of their own. The sweet Gospel sound of patriarchs like James Cleveland, The Hawkins Family, and Andre Crouch mingled in the Hall household along with the strains of some jazz's all time greats, Duke Ellington, Count Bassie, Ella Fitzgerald, and Miles Davis among others. Which helped to inspire the James Hall sound. Hall formed the first incarnation of Worship and Praise in 1987, when he was still in high school. The group remained intact after graduation as their popularity grew. Their career exploded in 1992, when "God is in Control" the title song from their debut album, swept the nation. More than just a hit, the song had a strong hand in urshering a new era of comtemporary urban Gospel. Today, the number remains as popular as ever, and has become James Hall's signature. In 1995 with their sophomore set "King Of Glory" recorded in Montreal, Canada, WAP scored another top ten release and was cited as a major force on the nations choir scene. Riding the wave of success continued on with additional recording projects: Live in Atlanta at the Rialto Theater, Live at the famous Lincoln Center, and Live at the Sony Sound Stage. WAP's most recent accomplishments include the live recording at Foxwoods Casino and Resorts, where they unveiled the latest compositions of James Hall Worship and Praise. "My prayer and hope is that our music will be a means of breaking down walls...between the races, the denominations, the saved and unsaved." James says. Christ is the banner under whom we all can come together. Music is a universally spoken language through which we can convey the message about Christ, as well as offer him praise. We want to do music that's broad enough that the world can connect with. We've always done exactly what our name says.
