.. MYSPACELAYOUTSPY CODE END --Name is Darryl, I am one who loves God first. He is my Lord and Saviour. I am active in my local church@ The Morning Star Highway Church of Christ where the Honorable Bishop W.P. Dove is my pastor and father in the gospel. I am a deacon in the church, asst. sunday school supertendant. I am one of the musicians in the church and where ever my hands find work to do. I love praising God on my instruments, the reason why on the instruments God gave me the gift and I want to give back to him. I believe God gave me the annointing to change the astmosphere in the room. I love to listen to other musicians mostly bass players. I was introduced to music at the age of 4yrs old. My first lesson was giving to me on the snare drum from my mother showing how to keep timing. Then I went on to learn how to play a full set in my church growing up. Later on at the age of seven I had my first piano lesson giving to me by mother. She taught me how to read music and play the piano, I ended up going to private lessons for 5 years. Kinda drifted away from the piano because I started playing trumpet in jr high school and was into sports then. But at the age of 12yrs old I've found my true love the bass guitar. I would play on my older brother Kevin's guitar as though it was a bass. A good friend of mine up until this day by the name of Kenneth Alston started showing me different songs and tunes on the bass. I was hooked by then. By the age of 15 I had the opportunity to play for numerous gospel groups and artist. Then I've met David Butler who introduced me to gospel jazz and Benny Cummings who allowed me to play with his choir and the Kittrell Sisters. As the years went on I've started watching Pastor Darrell Dove Sr. and would copy his style of playing. Then in our convocations I would always ask Steven Ford to play bass lines for me on the organ and I would tape them go home and practice them daily. Thank God for my brother Steve. I eventually had the chance to record with Steven Ford and the Highway churches of Christ on the Sweet Rain Label. That was really a breaking ground for me. I started doing more recordings after that. I've recorded with the Church of God Ny State Choir, United Voices of Praise, Togetherness, Ronnie Felder and the voices of Inspiration, GMWA National mass and mens mass choirs. I've recorded with Chocolatte aka Jared Crawford. I had the opportunity to work off broadway in a few shows. I've had the opportunity to play with such artist as Vickie Winans, Angela Spivey, Timothy Wright, Jae Nixon and my favorite Delbert Dove and the assembly. My greatest joy is seeing the elderly accepting my playing in churc. I have to thank God for my father the Late Rev. William Warner who bought me my first bass and my mother who bought me my first amplifier. My grandmother bought me my first keyboard. God has been good to me and that is why I give back to him when I play. There have been certain musicians that have ecourage me to keep playing. Marcus Miller, Stanley Clarke, Louis Johnson, Larry Graham and others. Benny Cummings, Steven Ford, Shernice (Dove) Blackman, my brothers Kevin, Roderick. I have to give a shout out to my cousin Lois who I watched play at her college and that was inspiring. Now I have to give a shout out to of my favorite people I had the opportunity to work and worship with while living in charlotte, nc. that would be Eric & Dena Brice. It was a joy and we are not finished, there is more to do with them. There are so many that encourage me to play on and I thank God for them. So if you happen to see me playing just know that I am giving back to God the gift he has blessed me with. If God allows me to I will be doing my own recording soon, so say a prayer for a brother whos is saying " The Bassist of the story is JESUS SAVES........... God bless, Darryl. ....
