MySpace Codes Kareen “K-MaC” McBean is a gospel/ inspirational singer born and raised on the tropical island of Jamaica. Kareen belongs to a family comprised of numerous musicians as well as singers. At the prodigious age of 4, Kareen was already singing in school choirs and taking an active part in the theatrical productions at her school. From that early age on, Kareen was always surrounded by music!As Kareen matured so did her interest in the visual and performing arts. At age 11, with much enthusiasm, Kareen started taking piano lessons. “It was a must in my household that my siblings and I learned to play a musical instrument”, she says. At age 13, Kareen finally broke out of the mold when she did her first solo at her home church in Jamaica. She’s been singing and writing songs ever since.Kareen then recorded her first original song, titled “My Child”. She says, “This song was written at a time in my life when I went through a phase of low self-esteem. Seeing that many people, especially young people, can relate to the things I go through, I wrote it as an encouragement to them. No matter what you’re going through, God loves you and considers you as his child even when no one else seems to care”.When asked about musical style Kareen states her songs are “completely” gospel, with “mixtures” of different styles of music. Her songs are all based on “life”: “Things we all go through, my thoughts, the greatness of God and having a personal relationship with God. " My aim is to uplift, encourage and strengthen others , including myself, while giving glory and honor to our God...he's my everything”. Some have said, “The message in her music is timeless!." Above all else, her music is dedicated to her Father and Maker. She enjoys bringing her thoughts and emotions to life through music. As she says, “I write my heart on paper and music makes it alive. I just have fun with it!."Modestly stated, “K-MaC” is a divine, gifted, and spiritual vessel of God. Kareen believes, “if God has given you a talent, it should not be put to waste”. She combines her creative mind, soulful vocals, knowledge of music, and song writing abilities to create majestic songs of praise. Never one to forsake the mission of God, Kareen states “I’m going to spread the word of God throughout the world!." She's definately anointed for a time as this.
