Thomas Schobel is born in 1963 in the picturesque lakeside city of Bregenz, Austria. After touring Austria, Germany and Switzerland and gaining chart success with his band Head First he moves to Vienna to pursue a professional career in music. He studies engineering and drums at the Conservatory of Vienna when he wins an audition to play drums with one of Austria’s top music acts. He tours and records extensively throughout the next 4 years while diving into the then new world of computer sequencing on a Commodore 64. In 1989 Thomas teams up with Harald Kloser working on numerous movie and recording projects with artists like Falco, Al Jarreau, Jose Feliciano and Toots Thielemans. Relocating to Los Angeles in 1991 he continues to collaborate with Kloser as a composer and producer for TV movies and feature films. After a 3 year stint as a staff composer for one of L.A.'s foremost commercial music houses, Thomas decides to go solo.
Projects include teaming up with legendary producer/composer Giorgio Moroder to produce remixes for Aretha Franklin, Donna Summer, Elton John, Blondie, and Texas to name a few. He composes the song "Driften" for the movie “Collateral†and contributes to scores for blockbuster films such as “The Day After Tomorrow, “Alien vs. Predator†and the Warner Brothers release "10,000 B.C." Thomas is currently working on his first feature film "Hybrid", set for release in 2009
